“What access card?” Hailey was livid at being stopped. “I’m a guest at Le Céleste! How dare you stop me p>
“Our apologies, miss, but this is the VIP area of Le Céleste. You need a VIP access card to enter,” the guard said, doing his job.
VIP area?
Hailey had done her research on the way here.
Le Céleste was already a symbol of the elite in Vaelion City, but places like this were always strictly hierarchical.
The VIP area of Le Céleste was a place only the true upper-echelon families, the genuine crème de la crème, were qualified to enter.
Money alone wasn’t always enough.
“Then how did she get in?” Hailey demanded, pointing at Serena.
If Serena could get in, why couldn’t she, a person of far more noble birth, be allowed access?
The guard looked in the direction she was pointing.
Serena had just turned a corner and disappeared from sight.

pulled Hailey to sit beside her, looking at her scrunched-up face. “Dad, Mom, and your brother will handle the Lancaster family issue. Just pretend you’re here for dinner and try not to look so miserable p>
