“Don’t say another word,” Nathan snapped at Tiffany.
She blinked, looking half hurt, half understanding-but her words were aimed straight at me, syrupy and fake
as ever.
“I’m sorry… it’s all my fault. If someone has to be punished, let it be me. Please don’t be mad at Nathan p>
I met her gaze with eyes like knives.
Without a second’s hesitation, I raised my hand and slapped her.
Hard.
Once on the left.
Once on the right.
A satisfying crack echoed across the restaurant.
Nathan instinctively stepped in front of her, shielding her like some precious treasure.
“Vivian, please. Not here. Let’s go home and talk this out, okay p>
That move-his body between us, protecting her-stabbed deeper than any insult could.
It was like a hot iron branding my heart.
My fury surged again.
Another slap.
This time, right across his face.
“Home?” I spat. “You have the nerve to talk about home? This marriage is over, Nathan p>
He stood still, face flushed, not daring to argue. He knew he had no ground to stand on.
The four kids didn’t hesitate.
They started pounding his legs with their tiny fists.
“Uncle Nate, you’re bad! You teamed up with that mean lady to hurt Aunt Vivian. I don’t like you anymore p>
“I’ll never forgive you! You can’t come to our house again p>

Tiffany’s face twisted, lips trembling in humiliation. She bit down and hesitated, dragging her feet.
But before she could get a word out, the sound of multiple cars screeching to a stop outside shattered the
tension.
A wave of footsteps thundered toward the restaurant.
Someone gasped near the door.
“Mr. Sterling is here-Vivian’s father p>
A buzz of hushed whispers followed.
“If he showed up personally, this isn’t just some family drama. Tiffany’s screwed p>
“So that woman really was the mistress? She framed the real wife, made her eat slop with her kids, and it
turns out the restaurant actually belongs to her family p>
“She’s dead. No one crosses the Sterlings and walks away clean p>
My father entered, flanked by two rows of men in tailored suits.
The entire restaurant practically bowed from the pressure of his presence.
Nathan rushed over with forced respect, his voice shaky: “Dad p>
He couldn’t even meet my father’s eyes.
My father stared him down in absolute silence for a full minute.
Then-smack!-a crisp slap landed across Nathan’s face.
“From this moment on, I have no son-in-law p>
Nathan staggered back.
Finally, he dared to look my father in the eye.

Two of the kids ran up to him, pulling at his sleeves with trembling hands.
“Grandpa! Aunt Vivian paid for all our food-over $100! But that bad woman said we only ordered one plate
of food. She insulted us and made Auntie eat garbage from a slop bucket p>
“I told her Aunt Vivian was pregnant with twins and she still didn’t stop! They’re really evil, Grandpa p>
Nathan’s face turned pale. He turned back to me, stunned.
“You’re… you’re pregnant p>
I just found out this morning at the hospital-twins.
I was planning to surprise him with the news tonight.
Guess that’s completely unnecessary now.
I didn’t even blink. “Yes, but you don’t deserve to be their father p>
That hit him harder than any slap could’ve.
Red crept into his eyes as panic took over. “Vivian, please… give me one more chance p>
“That was the first time I ever cheated. I swear it’ll be the last p>
I scoffed.
Didn’t even bother to speak.
Didn’t need to.
Right then, the restaurant’s massive flat-screen lit up behind us, flashing breaking news.
On screen: Tiffany, righteously indignant, ranting to a local news reporter.
