She had worked herself to the bone for the Forrester family, running herself ragged for their company, even wining and dining clients on their behalf. His tone was surprisingly gentle.
A flush of shame and relief washed over Rebekah as she realized he’d seen through her lies about the injuries. Her throat tightened, and a trembling “Thank you” was all she could manage.
