After settling on a time, Rebekah hung up the phone. As she looked up, her eyes met Benjamin’s dark, brooding gaze.
“Who are you having dinner with p>
The smile on Rebekah’s face vanished. “It’s none of your business,” she replied coolly.
“It’s that pretty boy, isn’t it? Rebekah, don’t forget you’re still Mrs. Forrester. You schemed to make our marriage public, and now you want to go out and embarrass the family p>
Rebekah thought he was being ridiculous. He was the one who had leaked the hit-and-run video. If her identity as Mrs. Forrester had been exposed, it was his own damn fault. How dare he blame her now?
“You know exactly who was behind that leak. If you’re so worried about being embarrassed by me, let’s go to city hall and file for divorce right now p>
Benjamin felt a jolt. Rebekah had changed. Before, she would never have dared to challenge him so directly. Candice was right-her true colors were finally showing.
Candice walked over from a short distance away, a medical form in her hand. She looked at Rebekah with a taunting glint in her eyes.
“Sister, I just heard from your colleagues that you resigned. You didn’t have to quit just because my brother-in-law and I called you out, did you?” she said sweetly. “But you must be really close with them. They were all singing your praises and said they wanted to throw you a farewell dinner p>
Benjamin finally understood. The phone call must have been about a farewell dinner with her colleagues. The anger in him began to subside as he remembered that he was the reason for her ruined hand. He was responsible for her having to quit her job. He should compensate her.
He pulled a credit card from his wallet and held it out to her. “Take your colleagues out for a nice dinner. Don’t worry about the cost p>
Candice frowned.
Rebekah simply stared at his condescending gesture and let out a soft, mocking laugh.
“Keep it for yourself p>
With that, she turned and walked away.
Candice jabbed Benjamin with her elbow. “Is that all you’re offering? No wonder she’s offended. Couldn’t you be a little more generous p>
Benjamin’s temper flared. He had been about to go after Rebekah, but now he stopped, gritting his teeth.
“Fine! She can take it or leave it p>

That evening, Rebekah arrived at the location Jensen had chosen: a lively area filled with street food stalls. As dusk settled, streetlights flickered on, illuminating the bustling sidewalks lined with vendors.
Rebekah got off the bus just in time to see Jensen stepping out of a ride-share car. He wasn’t wearing a suit. Dressed in a white t-shirt, gray sweatpants, and a pair of white sneakers, he looked exactly like a college athlete.
“Jensen!” she called out.
He turned, his sharp gaze landing directly on her. His dark, hawk-like eyes were framed by a gentle curve that softened their intensity, hiding the possessiveness that lay beneath. Hearing his name from her lips was, he thought, a beautiful sound.
Rebekah ran up to him, smiling. “Thanks for picking a place that’s easy on my wallet. Once I start making more money, I’ll treat you to a feast at that famous old- school restaurant in The Capital p>
A smile played on Jensen’s lips, his intense eyes reflecting her bright expression. He mouthed his words with a teasing intimacy.
