Chapter 11
Meanwhile, Aiden was in his room, looking like a half–dead man. He still couldn’t believe Amelia was gone.

It still felt like a dream. He loved her. He protected her. He made sure she was happy. How could he lose his mate? The pain of breaking the bond was still there and now paired with the pain of losing her forever.
It felt like he was going crazy. He lifted the bottle to his mouth, gulping down all the alcohol inside.
He sniffed and tried again, only to find the bottle empty. He growled and hurled it at the wall. It shattered into pieces, shards flying across the room.
He stared at the room, it was scattered, covered in broken bottles. Once, it had been a place filled with love and laughter. A room where he felt whole. A room where his family began. But now… he had ruined everything.
He ruined his family. He ruined his home. And now, he blamed himself for it all. He wished he could go back and make things right. Maybe… maybe Amelia would still be alive.
A smile tugged at his lips as he stared at the bathroom door. Amelia stood there, smiling softly at him.
“Amelia,” he whispered, struggling to stand so he could go to her, but he lost his balance and crashed to the floor.
He blinked and she was gone. Just the door. Just the silence. Tears welled in his eyes.
There was banging on the door. James‘ voice followed. But Aiden didn’t move.
“I told you, James… I want to be alone,” he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, only audible to himself. He closed his eyes, sinking into a dream of Amelia and Eva.
“Oh come on, Eva, you know you look so much like your mommy. You inherited her smile, her little nose,” Aiden said playfully as he looked at Amelia, who blushed.
“Stop teasing me, Aiden. You know she got her eyes from you,” Amelia replied, her voice calm, full of peace.
“Okay fine! I look like both of you!” Eva giggled, and they all laughed.
Tears streamed down Aiden’s cheeks as he opened his eyes again, wishing it wasn’t a dream. Wishing they were still here.
Meanwhile, James had ordered the guards to break the door. Aiden had been locked inside for two days. James had given him space, but now it was time for him to rise.
He was the Alpha. People had questions. He needed to speak.
When James stepped inside, the room was a mess but Aiden looked worse. Drained. Broken. Like life had been ripped out of him.
James crouched beside him and helped him off the floor.
“Leave me be, James…. please…” Aiden mumbled, his words slurred from too much drink.
James didn’t listen. He carried him out of the room, into the guest bedroom, the one he had asked the maids to clean earlier.
He gently laid Aiden on the bed, covered him, and let him sleep.
James stood there for a moment, staring. The Aiden he once knew was gone. What remained was just shattered pieces. He shook his head.
He walked out of the room to give him space. As he reached the staircase, he heard a commotion from below.

He headed downstairs–and it didn’t surprise him to see Sofia.
James sighed.
“What do you want, Sofia?” he asked.

Sofia looked up, glaring. “You! You gave the order to not let me in! You have no right! I’m the future Luna–you have to let me in p>
James said nothing, just stared as she continued her tantrum.
“Don’t look at me like that! James, please. I need to see Aiden. He needs me! It’s been two days–you’ve kept me away from him!” she pleaded, pressing her hands together, pretending to look emotional.
James had known Sofia since college. Even though he hadn’t been close to her, he knew enough to see through her act.
“Like I said, Sofia… the Alpha doesn’t need you. If he ever says he does, which I know he won’t, I’ll call you myself. For now, go home. Rest,” James said, turning to walk away.
Sofia groaned, clenching her fists. You’ll all regret this, she thought. I promise.
Meanwhile, in a white–painted room, a bed sat in the corner. A woman lay unconscious on it, hooked up to oxygen. A monitor beeped steadily beside her.
A man stood by the door, watching silently. A woman sat by the bedside, unmoving.
“Do you think she’s even going to wake up?” the man asked as he stepped forward. The woman didn’t answer.
“She’s been unconscious for two days… and on oxygen. If we pull it, she’s gone. Why don’t you just let her go in peace?” he asked, arms folded.
Still, the woman said nothing.
