Aiden’s father stood in his office, looking pissed. He stood by the window, glaring outside the building, watching people of the pack move around, going on with their daily activities.
He heard the door open, and someone walked in. It was his wife, Donna. He didn’t need anyone to tell him it was her, he could already perceive her scent before she entered the office.
She glanced around. It had been years since they’d moved from this pack. eight to ten years, if she wasn’t mistaken, and yet. everything in the office looked the same.
Alpha Alaric had handed over the alpha title to Aiden, thinking he was man enough to handle everything and take care of the pack. But after what had transpired in the past few days, he had never felt more disappointed.
He sighed as his mind flashed back to his former beta and best friend, Greg. He had lost his daughter and was deep in grief. Alaric wished he could pay him a visit and share his condolences, but he couldn’t.
He and Greg could never be seen together. Not after what he had done to him in the past. Alpha Alaric would never forgive him.

“Don’t you think you were too harsh on Aiden? He’s going through a lot of pain, and you made it worse…” Donna muttered, jolting Alpha Alaric out of his thoughts.
“He’s a man, Donna. He’s an alpha. He’ll be just fine,” he said, turning and sitting on his chair, glaring at her with no emotion in his eyes. Donna sighed. Aiden was so much like his father when it came to giving cold looks and having a cold attitude.

“You should go to your room and rest, woman,” he cut her off,
f, and she glared at him one more time before nodding and walking out of the study.
Alpha Alaric looked around his office. There was dust on the books and shelves. He wondered when was the last time the room had been cleaned. He sighed and moved toward the shelf, pulling out a book.
He made his way back to the chair and sat down. He opened the first page of the book and took a deep breath.
The door opened, and to his surprise, Aiden walked into the room. He looked slightly better than earlier when Alaric had seen him.
“Father,” Aiden called, but Alaric didn’t raise his head. Instead, he focused on the book in front of him. He was still mad at Aiden for everything.
“I’m sorry about everything… for disturbing your peace and making you come here unannounced. I’ll try to fix everything,” Aiden said quietly, bowing his head.
“Sorry can fix nothing, Aiden. You, of all people, should know that. The deed has been done. You need to stop sulking and being somber, and stand up as the alpha that you are. Go address the public p>
He finally looked up.
“They are asking questions. They feel the pack is no longer safe, and they’re scared. You have to tell them what they need to
hear.
Twist the narrative. Use her death to your benefit and gain the sympathy of the people. Tell them she committed suicide because she couldn’t bear the thought of losing her child. Tell them you never rejected her. Say it’s all a rumor–that she killed herself,” Alpha Alaric muttered.
Aiden didn’t speak. His jaw clenched, his fists tightened by his sides, knuckles turning white.

He kept staring at his father, lips slightly parted, but no words came out. His chest rose and fell in short, sharp breaths. His fingers twitched.
“How could you ask me to do that?” he finally said, voice low and trembling. His eyes lost focus for a moment–blank and hollow. “We both know she didn’t commit suicide p>
He clenched his fists tighter. Pain seared from inside him, surging up through his throat.
“Well, the chances that she killed herself after you rejected her are 98% high. Just fix this mess,” Alaric said coldly, now locking eyes with his son.
Aiden turned to leave the room.
“Aiden,” Alaric called, making him pause. “I’ve made decisions I knew weren’t right for me, but they were best for the pack. As an alpha, the pack comes first before anything else. I hope you make the right decision too p>
Aiden didn’t reply. He stood still for a moment, shoulders slightly hunched, then walked out of the study, leaving Alaric alone.
The moment Aiden stepped out, tears welled in his eyes and slipped down his cheeks–but he quickly wiped them away. He walked to his office in silence.
He opened the door and met James waiting for him.
“James, I need you to send six million dollars to Amelia’s family as compensation for the death of their daughter,” he muttered, standing by the window, staring blankly outside.
“Aiden, do you think they’ll accept it?” James asked, wanting to call off the idea. He knew deep down the family wouldn’t take the money if they knew it came from Aiden.
“Make it from an anonymous sender,” Aiden said.
James nodded and was about to leave when Aiden spoke again.
“Wait p>
James paused.
“I need you to bring the press here. I’m ready to address the public and tell them what they need to hear,” Aiden muttered.
James gave him a surprised look. Aiden was still mourning and wasn’t in the right state of mind to give a public statement. He didn’t even look like himself anymore.
“But Aiden… as your Beta, I would advise you not to give a speech yet. You’re not ready to appear in the public eye. I can address them for p>
“I’ll be just fine, James. Just do what you’re told. You can leave now,” Aiden dismissed him quickly.
Meanwhile, Sofia was pacing to and fro in her apartment, looking more worried than ever. She needed to find a way to get into the pack house and speak to Aiden–but that beta of his wouldn’t allow it.
“You’re making my eyes spin, Sofia,” Dante, sitting on the couch, muttered while staring at her.
“I’m sorry. I’m just worried. If I don’t speak to Aiden, then he’ll discard me from being his future Luna. I need to do something p>
“Then go to his house and talk to him,” Dante muttered, twirling his phone around in his hands.
“His stupid beta gave strict orders to the guards not to let me in. That bastard,” she clenched her fists and turned away from
