Meanwhile, Alpha Alaric was seen pacing out of his office. His boots echoed down the long hallway, each step heavier than the last.
He paused, staring at the walls….walls that held too many memories he wished he could forget. But forgetting wasn’t as easy as pretending.
He walked past Eva’s room and stopped. Slowly, he turned the knob and opened the door.
He’d only met Eva once, the day she was born. His only other connection with her had been through a screen, a video call. That was it.
He sighed.
Eva was beautiful. Innocent. Pure.
The mystery surrounding her death still haunted him. He didn’t believe for a second that Amelia had poisoned her. That lie had spread like wildfire… but to Alaric, it never made sense.
Who would kill a child? And why?
His thoughts were sharp, nagging, relentless.
A maid walked by, and he called out to her.
“Yes, Alpha,” the maid said, bowing respectfully.
“I want you to clean out this room. Everything that belonged to Eva… burn it. And everything of Amelia’s in Aiden’s room, remove and burn those too p>
“Yes, Alpha,” she replied quietly before walking away.
Alaric stood in silence for a beat, exhaling deeply.
He needed to erase the memories. Wipe them clean. It was the only way for Aiden to move forward. At least, that’s what he told himself.
He made his way downstairs… when he heard raised voices from the foyer.
“Please, let me in! I just want to see Aiden!” came a familiar voice… too familiar.
Alaric’s brows furrowed as he descended the stairs. The guards at the door immediately bowed.
“Sofia,” he muttered, surprised to see her standing there.
“Alpha,” she said, bowing with practiced grace.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, folding his hands behind his back. His tone was clipped, unreadable.
“I… I wanted to speak to Aiden, but the guards wouldn’t let me in. Beta James gave orders to keep me out,” she explained, swallowing hard. She bit the inside of her cheek, trying to force out tears.
“I know Aiden lost his wife and child. I only wanted to see him… offer my sympathy,” she added, her voice trembling as she allowed a few well–timed tears to fall.
Alaric narrowed his eyes. He didn’t pity her. not really. But he’d known her father. They had been close before his passing. And once upon a time, he’d wanted Sofia to marry Aiden… before fate gave him Amelia instead.

“Come in,” he said finally.
The guards stepped aside.
“Thank you, Alpha,” Sofia sniffled, wiping her eyes as she stepped in.

Meanwhile, Aiden and Beta James were coming downstairs toward the press room. The moment Aiden spotted Sofia beside his father, his entire body tensed.
“Sofia? What are you doing here?” His voice was low, cautious.
She immediately burst into tears and rushed to him, throwing her arms around him.
He didn’t return the hug.
His jaw clenched, and his eyes twitched subtly, a storm swirling just beneath the surface. His arms remained frozen at his sides.
“Sofia… you should leave p>
His voice was flat as he peeled her off him gently but firmly.
“I tried to see you… they wouldn’t let me in,” she whispered, glancing at James bitterly. “I’m sorry for everything, Aiden p>

“Sofia, not now. Please,” he cut her off, voice sharper. He stepped back from her, his gaze cold and distant, like he was looking through her, not at her.
She blinked rapidly, struggling to hold back more tears. She glanced at Alpha Alaric, who watched silently.
This was her chance. Her only one. If she lost it, she’d never become Luna.
Aiden turned to leave, but her voice rang out like a bombshell.
“I’m pregnant, Aiden p>
He froze.
Slowly, he turned back to face her. His throat bobbed as he swallowed nothing. His eyes searched her face, confused, conflicted, furious.
“What do you mean?” His voice was barely a whisper.
“I’m carrying your child… I’m pregnant p>
The world spun.
His mouth opened slightly. His hands trembled at his sides. He looked at James, his face unreadable unreadable. Then at Sofia. Then finally at his father… whose expression was filled with quiet disappointment.
“Sofia… we’ll talk about this later,” he said hoarsely. “I. I’ll come to your apartment and p>
“She’s staying.” Alpha Alaric said suddenly, his voice echoing through the hall.
Everyone turned to him in shock.
“Dad,” Aiden breathed.
“We need to talk. To my office. Now,” Alaric ordered, turning on his heel.

Sofia rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

“I don’t know. Do you feel threatened? Maybe that’s guilt talking p>
She scoffed. “Please. I have nothing to hide. That child is his. Or did you think we were playing chess when we were alone in that hotel?” She stepped closer, her tone laced with smugness.
