Chapter 17
Meanwhile, Amelia walked into a room, like a confined space. She saw her daughter, sitting in the corner in tears.
“Eva,” she called softly, moving toward her and crouching to help her up, but Eva shook her head violently, still crying.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart? Mommy’s here…” She wiped the tears from her daughter’s cheeks as she sat beside her.
“I need Daddy,” Eva sobbed. “That woman with him, she tried to kill me. She’s going to kill me again p>
Eva kept pointing at the door, trembling.
Amelia’s heart clenched. She raised her head and looked toward the door. There, she saw a woman holding Aiden’s hand. Their backs were turned to her. she couldn’t see the woman’s face. They walked out together.
“Aiden,” she called out, standing up and rushing after them. She needed to see the face of the woman who was going to hurt
her child.
But the moment she stepped through the door, everything vanished.
Her eyes flew open.
She blinked rapidly, confused. White ceiling. Beeping monitor. A drip in her arm.
She turned her head slowly, trying to make sense of her surroundings.
ATV sat at the end of the room. A soft rhythm from the monitor pulsed beside her. Her whole body ached. She groaned as she tried to sit up, her limbs weak and sore.
“You’re awake,” came a voice, familiar, but strange.
She turned. A woman sat beside the bed in a chair, her presence calm and steady.
The woman had short silver–grey hair that fell just past her shoulders and warm brown eyes. She looked like she was in her mid–50s, elegant yet strong.
“Who are you?” Amelia asked quietly.
“My name is Seraphina Wrenmoor,” the woman replied with a gentle smile. “I saved your life p>
Amelia blinked at her, confused.
“Don’t you remember?” Seraphina asked, tilting her head slightly.
Amelia didn’t answer. Her mind felt scrambled, heavy.
“Where’s my daughter? What happened to me?” she whispered, confused.
Seraphina’s voice softened. “Amelia… your daughter. She’s gone. Your husband rejected you and broke the wolf bond. He divorced you. I found you on the street, covered in blood p>
The words hit like a hammer.
Amelia sat frozen. Then it hit, like a dam breaking.
The memories came flooding back: Eva’s death. Aiden’s rejection. The divorce. The men who beat her.
Her chest heaved. Panic. Pain. Grief. All at once.

“No…” Her voice cracked. She let out a gut–wrenching scream, crying loudly, the agony tearing through her like fire.
“It’s okay,” Seraphina murmured, reaching for her hand. “You’re safe now p>
“My baby… they killed my baby too…” Amelia sobbed, her hand clutching at her stomach as if searching for the life that once grew there.
“Your baby is fine, Amelia,” Seraphina whispered. “Your baby is safe p>
Amelia paused, her breathing ragged: Her tear–filled eyes turned to her.
“My baby is okay?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Seraphina nodded. “We arrived in time and saved you. Your baby is okay p>
She poured a glass of water and handed it to her.
Amelia stared at her, suspicious. She didn’t know this woman. For all she knew, she could’ve been sent by Aiden to finish
what he started.
“I’m not going to harm you, Amelia. I saved your life. You were unconscious for two days. I’m not here to hurt you,” Seraphina said gently.
Amelia nodded slowly, took the glass, and drank the water in one long gulp. Then she handed it back.
“What do you want from me? Why did you save me? Did Aiden send you to finish me off?” she asked, her voice sharp with pain and confusion.
“No,” Seraphina answered calmly. “I was coming to Red Moon Pack for some matters when I saw a crowd gathered around somewhere. When I got closer, I saw it was you, and I couldn’t just leave you there p>
Amelia’s mind flashed back. She remembered lying on the ground, barely breathing… and a woman’s voice calling her name.
It was her.
She had saved her.
Still, something didn’t sit right. Why had she saved her? What did she want?
Then her mind raced to her mother.
“I need to go home,” Amelia said. “My mother, she’ll be worried. She needs to know I’m alive p>
Seraphina’s expression darkened. “They laid you to rest today p>
Amelia turned her head sharply. “What do you mean p>
“They think you’re dead. They buried you. If you go back, you’ll be putting yourself and your baby in danger. If you won’t think of yourself, think of the child you’re carrying p>
Amelia stared at her, speechless.
Just then, the door opened and a man walked in. His face was drawn tight with worry. His eyes moved between Seraphina
and Amelia.
“She’s awake,” he said, surprised.
“What’s wrong, Kael?” Seraphina asked when she noticed the look on his face.

Kael didn’t answer. He picked up the remote and switched on the television.
“There’s something you need to see p>
The screen came to life and there he was.

Amelia’s breath caught in her throat.
Then she heard it.
He said she killed their daughter.
He said she committed suicide.
He said he was marrying Sofia because she was pregnant with his child.
Her hands trembled.
“You liar!” she screamed. “I hate you! I hate you! I hate you, Aiden p>
Her voice broke as she sobbed uncontrollably, pain crashing over her like a storm.
“How could you do this to me? How could you lie to them and to everyone? How could you betray me? How could you betray everything we shared p>
Her cries echoed in the room.
The pain of the broken bond wasn’t enough.
Now he’d shattered what little of her remained.
He replaced her so easily.
He buried her.
And now… he was going to marry his
pregant
