A sleek black Rolls Royce pulled up in front of the Pack Hall. Cassia glanced out the window and saw the crowd, pack members dressed in their finest, streaming toward the glowing entrance.
Her chest tightened. She drew a steadying breath and stepped out, Damien and Arthur at her side.
Matthew was already waiting. “This way, Doctor Cassia,” he said, leading them inside toward the front row, just as James had instructed.
The moment Cassia crossed the threshold, whispers rippled through the hall. Heads turned, eyes following her.
“Is that the doctor and her husband p>
“She’s stunning p>
“He’s handsome too p>
“Don’t you think she looks like Luna Amelia p>
“And the boy, he’s the spitting image of Alpha Aiden p>
Cassia’s jaw tensed. Every murmur felt like an echo in her skull. She forced herself to keep walking, her face serene, though her ears burned. They settled into the front row, facing the stage.
“Doctor Cassia,” Matthew leaned close. “Alpha Aiden and his family are on their way. The moment they arrive, we’ll begin p>
Cassia nodded lightly. “Thank you.” As Matthew left, her heartbeat quickened.
She had thought she was ready. Minutes ago, she was certain she could face Aiden without flinching. But now, doubt churned in her chest. Her pulse raced, her breath came sharp. She needed her mother more than anything in that moment.
Beside her, Damien’s eyes narrowed. “Cassia… are you alright p>
She forced a smile, though her voice shook. “I’m fine. I just need the restroom. I’ll be back.” She stood quickly and walked
off.
Damien sighed, worry flickering in his gaze. He didn’t notice the woman until she stepped in front of him.
“Hello,” she said politely, extending her hand. “I’m Rita Dominic p>
Damien shook it. “Damien Blackwood p>
“You’re a doctor, yes p>
“Yes p>
“Please, my husband is unwell. He stomach pains. Could you take a look?” She gestured across the hall.
She was elderly, her eyes anxious. Damien couldn’t refuse. “Of course p>
He turned to Arthur. “I’ll be right back p>
Arthur nodded but slumped against the chair, restless. Without his mother there, the party felt endless. Minutes ticked by. Finally, impatience won. He glanced at Damien, busy with the patient, and slipped away quietly.

Outside, another car rolled up, it was Aiden’s car. Aiden stepped out, straightening his jacket before opening the door for Sofia and Ethan.
The crowd buzzed louder. His presence alone seemed to shift the air. Together they approached the hall.
Just as Aiden reached the steps, a small body collided with him.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going!” Sofia snapped.
Arthur flinched, his wide eyes darting up.
“That’s enough, Sofia,” Aiden said firmly. “He’s just a child p>
Arthur swallowed hard. “I’m sorry, sir. I didn’t mean to bump into you p>
Aiden’s reply caught in his throat as the boy lifted his face. He froze. Ethan did too. The resemblance was uncanny, down to the brown eyes, the curve of the smile.
For a split second, Aiden could almost believe this boy was his.
“It’s fine,” he managed. His voice was calm, but his heart raced. “Are you lost? I could help you find your parents p>
Arthur shook his head. “I’m just looking for my mommy p>
Aiden hesitated, then crouched slightly, searching the boy’s face. That strange, aching connection pulsed inside him. And beneath it, Amelia’s scent. He forced the thought away. Impossible.
“I’ll help you, then,” he said softly.
Sofia stiffened. “Aiden, really? He’ll be fine p>
“He’s a child, Sofia,” Aiden cut her off. “He could get lost p>
She clenched her jaw, suspicion burning in her chest. Why was he so protective all of a sudden towards this child? Her eyes narrowed on Arthur. The resemblance was… unnerving.
“What’s your name, little man?” Aiden asked, holding out his hand.
“Arthur,” he replied quickly.
Aiden’s lips pressed together. “Arthur. Alright then, let’s find your mom.” He took the boy’s hand.
Arthur stared at him with wonder. The man’s warmth, his protectiveness, he had never felt it before, not even with Damien.
A thought stirred in his young mind: Is this my father? But then his gaze shifted to Sofia, her sharp eyes full of malice, and he wilted. No. He already has a wife. A scary one.
“I’ll help him,” Aiden said again, firm.
Before Sofia could protest, James approached. “Alpha, what’s happening p>
“This boy…Arthur, is looking for his mother,” Aiden explained.
James’ eyes landed on Arthur, recognition dawning. He knew instantly. Cassia’s son.
Arthur recognized him too. His finger shot out. “You p>

James forced a smile. “Yes, Alpha. He’s Dr. Cassia Wrenmoor’s son… and Damien Blackwood’s. I’ll take him to them now p>
Aiden’s chest tightened. He wanted…irrationally…to keep the boy close. But duty pressed heavy on his shoulders. The party couldn’t wait. He released Arthur’s hand reluctantly.
“Alright. Make sure he’s safe p>
“Yes, Alpha,” James assured.
With one last glance, Aiden turned and entered the hall with Sofia and Ethan.
James crouched to Arthur’s level. “Come on. Let’s get you back to your mother p>
Arthur nodded, though his eyes lingered longingly on Aiden’s retreating back.
