The moment Aiden stepped into his office, he slammed both hands against the desk, the wood cracking under the force. A growl ripped through his throat.
That bastard Damien Blackwood.
How dare he call Amelia his wife in front of him? How dare he flaunt it in his face? His wolf still snarled inside him, restless.

Aiden ripped off his suit jacket, yanking open his shirt. His gaze fell on the claw marks carved into his arm, deep, jagged wounds that refused to heal as quickly as they should. Blood still stained his skin.
The door creaked open. James entered, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the wound.
“How sharp are his claws?” Aiden asked, his voice low and dangerous.
James leaned casually against the wall, though his tone was measured. “Very. Damien’s not just anyone, he’s the son of Velaris’s Beta, descended from the first warrior line in werewolf history. That cut is proof. It’s deep enough to slow your healing, but by tomorrow you should be fine. For now, you need it cleaned p>
Aiden sank into his chair, his jaw tight. Silence stretched between them. His thoughts churned, heavier than the wound throbbing on his arm.
He hadn’t just fought Damien, he’d made Amelia hate him even more. Any chance of speaking with her, of making things right, was slipping further away.
“I’ll kill him,” Aiden growled suddenly, his fist slamming down again. “He dared to threaten me in my own pack p>
James’s voice cut in sharply. “You can’t. If you kill him, Amelia will never speak to you again p>
Aiden leaned back, exhaling harshly. He knew James was right, but the thought of Damien at Amelia’s side boiled his blood. “I don’t understand how she ever agreed to marry him. He’s too possessive, too controlling. She deserves better. She deserves p>
“Careful,” James interjected, raising a brow. “You started the fight, Aiden. Damien has every right to be protective after what you put her through. At least now she has someone who won’t abandon her for someone else p>
Aiden’s eyes snapped up, fury burning in them. “Whose side are you on, James? Mine or his p>
James didn’t flinch. “I’m on Amelia’s side. And if you want any chance of talking to her, you’ll have to go about it calmly. Because like it or not, she went through hell because of you p>
Aiden’s jaw tightened. He hated how the truth cut deeper than Damien’s claws. “I know… I wish I could make things right, but she won’t even look at me. She hates me. And that husband of hers is in the way at every turn p>
James pulled out a chair and sat across from him. His gaze was steady. “Tell me the truth, Aiden. Do you just want peace with Amelia? Or do you want her back p>
Aiden swallowed hard, avoiding his Beta’s eyes. “No. She’s married. And I’m married too p>
James let out a scoff, lips twitching with disbelief. “You’re lying. I’ve known you too long, Aiden. You want her back, but she doesn’t want you. And the truth is… she’s happier without you p>
The words landed like a blow. Aiden looked away, his hands curling into fists.

To break the tension, he asked, “What about Tracy? Have you told her Amelia’s alive p>

James stiffened slightly. “No. She cut ties with me after our breakup. She’s gone, phone disconnected, apartment empty. Last I heard, she was with Evelyn while she was sick.” His tone softened, heavy with regret.
Aiden studied him. “Did you really cheat on her? I never believed it. Tracy loved you too much p>
James’s eyes darkened. He had never cheated, but he’d let Aiden believe it. The truth was that Tracy had left him because of what Aiden had done to Amelia. It was a secret he carried alone. “Yeah,” he lied flatly.
Aiden leaned back with a scoff. “Hard to imagine anyone making you forget how beautiful she was p>
James’s jaw tightened, his chest aching at the mention of Tracy. He pushed the thought aside. “Forget it. What you need to focus on is Amelia. After what you did to Damien, she’s more determined than ever to leave. If you want her to stay, you’d better apologize p>
“Apologize?” Aiden barked a laugh. “To Damien? Never. He threatened me first. If anything, he should be the one apologizing p>
James’s patience snapped. His voice hardened. “They hold the cure to the disease spreading through your pack… our pack… If you don’t swallow your pride, Amelia and Damien will walk away and your people will die. So tell me, Alpha, what’s more important? Your ego… or your pack p>
Aiden’s fist clenched on the desk, his chest heaving with the weight of James’s words.
He knew the truth, the people of red moon pack was more important.
