Meanwhile, Cassia had just finished dinner with Arthur, who had woken up from his nap.
“Mommy, are we in Alpha Aiden’s house?” he asked, accepting a cup of water from her hands.
“Yeah..” Cassia replied simply, though her voice carried no warmth.

Arthur’s lips curved into a small, secret smile. Cassia tilted her head, suspicious of his sudden cheer. Why does he look so pleased to be here?
Arthur’s chest buzzed with excitement. Finally, he was under the same roof with his real dad. He didn’t need proof, every glance in the mirror, every look at Aiden’s features, only deepened his conviction. His mother’s past with Alpha Aiden connected the missing dots. All he needed now was a way to prove it, perhaps a DNA
test.
“Why are you happy we’re here, Arthur?” Cassia asked, kneeling in front of him as she unbuttoned his shirt to prepare him for his bath. Her brows arched, waiting for an answer.
“Nothing. I’m just happy I get to see my new friend,” he said with a mischievous shrug.

“Yes. Ethan. He’s Alpha Aiden’s son, and he’s in the same class as me. We became friends on my first day,” Arthur admitted with a grin.
Cassia pressed her lips together. So that’s it. She didn’t reply, only muttered a quiet “Oh,” before carrying him into the bathroom.
After bathing him, she returned with Arthur wrapped in a towel, only to realize there were no clothes for him. James hadn’t returned yet. She sighed in frustration, muttering under her breath. What is taking him so long?
She opened the wardrobe, not expecting anything useful, but froze. Inside were neatly folded clothes in Arthur’s size: a shirt, a pair of trousers, even nightwear. Her chest tightened. They looked almost identical to Ethan’s. A quiet hum escaped her lips. Without another word, she dressed Arthur in the pajamas and tucked him into bed.
Cassia sat beside him for a long while, watching his chest rise and fall in steady rhythm. Her heart softened. If Aiden hadn’t come when he did… if he hadn’t carried us out of the fire… she shuddered. For all her hatred, she couldn’t deny she owed him Arthur’s life.
She quickly shook her head, dismissing the thought. Gratitude didn’t erase the past.
Deciding to wait for James before bathing herself, she picked up the empty jug and left the room, locking the door and slipping the key into her pocket. She didn’t trust anyone, especially not Aiden…
Downstairs, she found Sofia and Ethan at the dining table. Their eyes clashed like flint and steel, Cassia’s gaze sharp and unyielding, Sofia’s dripping with venom she barely disguised in front of her son. Cassia walked past her without a word, heading into the kitchen.

“Luna Amelia!” one cried, rushing to hug her tightly. Cassia chuckled, pulling her in briefly before releasing.
She recognized each of them, especially Elena, her favorite, who had once learned to cook from her.
“How are you all doing?” Cassia asked warmly.
“Not well since you left. This house has been upside down…” Elena muttered.
“That’s true,” another chimed in eagerly. “Since you left, Alpha Aiden barely eats at home. He starves himself, or maybe cats out. He’s not the same p>
Cassia’s heart faltered for a beat, her throat tightening at their words. She quickly masked it, pretending she hadn’t heard.
Before she could respond, a sharp voice cut through the air like a whip.
“Gossiping isn’t part of your job, you useless omegas!” Sofia spat, her tone dripping venom.
The maids froze, heads bowing instantly. Fear thickened the air.
“Out! All of you!” she barked, jealousy raging in her eyes as they scurried away. Her gaze snapped to Cassia, sharp and hateful. The way the maids adored her burned in Sofia’s gut.

Cassia turned to her, her face calm, unreadable.
“I didn’t gossip about you. If you treat them well, Sofia, they’d have good things to say about you. Don’t blame them for telling the truth,” she said evenly, her tone laced with quiet contempt as she poured water into her jug.

Cassia smirked faintly. She wondered if Sofia didn’t think of him as an ex and a married man when she was chasing after him knowing he was married to her.

The color drained from Sofia’s face.
“You should’ve seen his face when he begged,” Cassia continued smoothly. “I doubt he’s ever begged you that way before… because he doesn’t love you p>
Her words landed like a blow. Sofia’s fists trembled at her sides.
“You evil bitch!” she screamed, charging forward. She grabbed Cassia’s hair, yanking hard.
Cassia groaned but reacted instantly. She seized Sofia’s wrists, tearing them away from her hair. Then, two sharp slaps landed across Sofia’s cheeks.

Before Sofia could recover, Cassia gripped her hair, yanking viciously. Sofia shrieked, tears springing to her eyes as Cassia slammed her face against the fridge.
“You don’t get to lay hands on me, you cheap whore,” Cassia spat through clenched teeth.
She dragged Sofia away from the fridge and threw her to the ground. In the next second, Cassia straddled her, her fists raining down mercilessly. Blow after blow landed as Sofia screamed helplessly, her voice echoing in the kitchen.
