Chapter 219

Omega Bound

Apple, Tree

Thane

I have my reasons for not wanting to take my rightful seat of authority. One of them is the fact that I do not want the shifter world to think that I am there to control everybody and take anything from them. These Alphas have spent decades without oversight, and suddenly having somebody above them may not go over well.

I don’t want to deal with the headaches until I have my pack sorted out.

The other reason is more personal.

I think over all of this during the eight–hour drive to Alpha Sonne’s pack. His pack will consider his abduction an act of war, unless I hold my rightful seat.

I also do not care what they think at the moment.

I want answers, and I want them now.

We douse ourselves in scent blocker and hide our vehicles two miles from the pack border. We will use the cover of night to infiltrate Sonne’s home. Then he will be relocated to mine.

In the damn dungeon.

“We have no idea who is dirty and who is not. We attempt to go non–lethal for as long as

possible. ”

“That’s no fun.” Cyrus interrupts.

“You get to cause a distraction. Blow something up. Tyler, how long can you take the power

grid down p>

“By the looks of it, I can probably shut it down for 30-40 minutes p>

“How are we on locating his current whereabouts?” I ask Tyler, who is studying his laptop. Fingers furiously typing away.

“Their camera feeds show him in his office on the third floor of this building…first door on the right after the stairs,” Tyler points to the map on the hood of the SUV, which is now our makeshift office.

“The building registers as a complex of offices, not within a pack house, Tyler explains.

Sonne having an office outside of the pack house will keep the casualty number down, if we can get in and out unnoticed.

“Easier to infiltrate,” Damon states. I almost didn’t bring him, since he remains unmated, but he trains our fighters, and I need his strength and instincts.

He also refused to stay behind.

“Exactly,” I respond, nodding to my team. “Gear up p>

We walk the two miles to their border in the cover of night, wearing all black. Once at the border, it is a matter of how quietly we can infiltrate their land. The pack is decent–sized and more affluent in some ways compared to mine. We are much larger, but they care more about how they look to the outside world.

Grand architecture, jewels, and statues.

What is the point?

We move carefully and quietly with our packs on our backs and weapons at the ready, as if we have all the time in the world. Patience is essential; a hasty move can reveal our location, and

that could mean game over.

I signal to my boys as I hear footsteps in the distance. We take our preplanned cover silently

and wait.

Observation of the shifters shows that they can sense a presence in their territory, but have no idea where or who. Instincts are telling them something isn’t quite right.

Their instincts are correct.

Two border patrol guards stumble upon our location, scanning the area looking for the threat.

They will not find us because they are looking out into the shadows of the forest instead of looking up into the trees.

Where we wait.

“I don’t hear anything, and I don’t see anything. My shift is up in five minutes, and I do not have the time to dick around/out here. I have plans p>

“Let me guess a bottle and a pocket pussy p>

“No, you idiot. I got my hands on x p>

What? How did you get it p>

‘1 swiped it from Alpha’s office after the border meeting last night. He won’t miss a fee pills.

“Shit. Who are you going to use it on p>

“I plan on taking one down to Den and slipping it to Maggie. She will be in heat within 30 minutes and all fucking mine p>

‘Damn, give me one p>

“Fine, but you owe me p>

1 signal to Cyrus and Damon after hearing the conversation between the border guards about spiking drinks with heat–inducing drugs.

My boys leap from the tree and land silently behind the guards. They have a split second to tense before Damon and Cyrus snap their necks and lower their dead bodies to the ground.

I leave the trees, and we proceed to the next group. If their conversations are just as bad as the ones we just heard, they will die as well.

The office building is in the heart of the pack. We need to time our power outage perfectly. I mind–link Tyler to cut the power as we watch the street lights go off. Yes, shifter sight provides night vision, but only to a point. The power outage will be the distraction we need, along with Cyrus.

As soon as the power is out, I mind–link Cyrus to find a place to cause a distraction as Damon and I advance to the back of the building. We could try to do this without distraction, but my instincts suggest that escaping will not be as easy as entering without a diversion.

So I trust the instincts, just as I trust my boys.

Damon and I moved swiftly as we approached the building’s fire escape, blending seamlessly into the night. Damon led with fluid, purposeful movements that showcased his strength and agility due to years of training, enabling him to maneuver easily between the rungs with calculated efficiency in every motion.

As we reached the rooftop, the metal creaked slightly under our weight, but we pressed on, undeterred. With a quick nod exchanged, Damon pushed open the rooftop door, and they slipped into the darkened interior, adrenaline coursing through their veins, ready to execute their mission with precision and stealth.

We listen carefully and walk silently down to the third floor via the stairwell. Cyrus mind–links that he strapped C4 to the ‘dick‘ of some statue of Sonne somewhere, and I inform him of our current situation and order his return to keep a lookout.

I mind–linked with Tyler to restore the power, hoping it would appear as a natural power grid issue while we stood outside Alpha Sonne’s office. I hear only one heartbeat, and I doubt from the liquor I smell that he is unaware of the threat outside his office door.

“ He remains in his chair. About twelve feet from the door. Alone and no weapon within reach. ” Tyler mind–links as he cuts the power again. Damon turns the handle gently as we hear Alpha Sonne cursing again.

Once the door is cracked open, we bolt in and fire three tranquilizer darts into Sonne’s chest.

He groans and quickly slumps face–first against his desk. I mind–link Cyrus and Tyler, giving

them an update as Damon watches my back.

Tyler turns the power back on as I grab Sonne and throw him over my shoulder. Damon closes and locks the door due to hearing footsteps down the hall.

Sombody knocks on the door as I mentally instruct Cyrus to detonate the statue. The explosion is loud and shakes the building we are in. I can see the flames from across the pack as the

shifter behind the door yells and runs away.

The pack is distracted and disoriented. Tyler cuts the power again, this time for hopefully the 30-40 minutes we need to get Sonne out the front door of the office building.

We meet up with Cyrus behind the building, and the three of us take turns carrying Sonne through the forest. The power outage gave us the time we needed, and the border patrol has been pulled into the pack to look for their missing Alpha.

“You’re a pussy. Sonne is only six feet tall, and you are already winded. You’ve missed too many days of training.” Cyrus starts to annoy Damon out of boredom for the walk back to Tyler and

the SUV, I presume.

“I have been busy getting to know my mate, and if I remember correctly, your stupid ass had to get suspended for nearly a month to get your mate bond sealed.” Damon retorts, and I sigh

loudly.

Here we go.

“That is because my mate is a psychopath with trust issues. Yours seems normal. Just stick a fang in her and then hope she doesn’t care that you have a small dick.” Cyrus smirks in the dark, enjoying himself.

“There is nothing small about me.” Damon continues to carry Sonne without any difficulty noted. Missing training has done nothing physically to him, but I am concerned about him emotionally now that he has a mate. He has become quieter. Maybe guarded. I haven’t put my finger on it yet.

“That’s not what I heard.” Cyrus taunts.

“Your sister is angry because I told her she had oversized meat curtains. You cannot believe all that you hear, Cyrus p>

“I told you not to fucking talk about my sister p>

“You don’t have a sister, Cyrus!” I growl as I interlock my fingers and put my hands on top of my head, pushing down in hopes that it will fix the headache that these two are starting.

“We don’t know that Thane. My mom was a slut p>

“Apple, tree,” Damon says as he dumps Sonne on the ground. I fire another dart into him as Tyler starts the SUV.
