Chapter 233
Omega Bound
Broken Promises
Raven
The idea of going through census sheets by hand in the musty part of the library was unappealing, but the ability to act out another
scene from Monica’s book makes it bearable.

“Just put it in there,” I demand, pants around my knees as I lean over the table in the back of the library, hovering over my mate’s dick,
blowing dust off folders.
“And then what?” he asks as I groan when he slides himself in, pulling me back slowly.
“And then nothing. You just leave it.” I lean across the table and pull open my first stack of census files.
“What if it starts to slide out?” I feel him twitch within me. It feels so good.
“Then you just wiggle a little and it will harden up again p>
“Don’t move,” Cyrus growls.
“I won’t,” I whisper.
“You’re moving,” Cyrus says low in my ear.
“I’m not.” Lie, I did slightly slant my pelvis. “You leaned forward,” I growl.
“I did.” Cyrus laughs.
“On page 20 of my book number 3, Della stated she was infuriated because her rejected mate confronted her, and again it was at a
sporting event.” I ponder, chewing on a pen.
“I love it when you talk nerd to me.” Cyrus groans. “She would have been at all of them; she never stayed home. Amazingly, she found time to stalk Thane and steal his toenails,” Cyrus says as he rubs my back, sitting still beneath me.
“Allegedly”
“Allegedly,” Cyrus repeats.
“There isn’t a single entry about him yet at her school. I would think she would have seen him in a hallway and would have written about it if they were the same age. I think he is older.” My instincts are fairly good, minus the rejected mate bond situation. That slapped me in
the face out of nowhere.
I need to plot my revenge.

“You twitched, Fireball p>

“So older than us. That narrows the census down quite a bit.” Cyrus moves within me, causing me to chew on my pen harder.
“You still have to go through it one sheet at a time and make a note of who fits the age,” I grumble, looking at all the piles of files. The Records office is behind on digitizing, apparently.
“Do we leave out mated shifters? Her mate could have had a chosen mate.” I suggest.
“I can’t remember the last time I heard of somebody taking a chosen mate. It is highly frowned upon.” My mate’s hands slide down to my hips as he kisses down my neck.
Hours pass as I narrow down the pile of files to go through based on ages. My eyes hurt as I stood from my mate’s lap, stiff in the hips from our hours long whatever we were doing.
Soaking.
“That was torture, Fireball p>
“Agreed.” I kiss Cyrus, putting myself back together as he puts himself away, and I head down the hall with my stack of files, leaving Cyrus on journal duty.
I put the folders inside yet another new vehicle, as Cyrus drives us back to the pack house. Cyrus Jr. sleeps in a shoebox bed in the backseat, covered with a black knitted blanket because Cyrus says he can’t have pink anymore.
“I’m going to meet Thane in the war room. You take the car, boo boo.” Cyrus says as he pulls into the packhouse parking lot. He puts the car in park and sucks my face off before climbing out so I can get behind the wheel.
“We’d better finish this soaking later.” I grab his groin firmly, causing him to groan.
“Keep it up, and I will stay in there all night,” Cyrus growls lowly, causing me to shiver.
“Promises, promises,” I lean up and kiss him before climbing in the car and pulling out of the lot.
I drive on the highway out of town toward Ayla’s and pass a dark–colored sedan with heavily tinted windows. The vehicle appears familiar.
As I drove deeper into the forest, the tall trees looming on either side, I couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling that something was off. In my rearview mirror, I caught a glimpse of the dark–colored sedan again, its heavily tinted windows reflecting nothing but shadows.
Just as I rounded a sharp bend, the car abruptly turned around, its headlights cutting through the dimness as it began to follow me. My

heart raced, and I tightened my grip on the steering wheel, glancing nervously from the road to the mirror, watching as it closed the

I drive past Ayla’s turn off and speed up around the S curves of the highway when the car comes up on my bumper, tapping me and
causing my car to veer off the road. Gravel crunches under my tires as I try to control the rear end of my car.
I correct as I take the second curve, speeding up into it. The sedan takes the opposite lane and hammers its pedal to the floor, lurching
forward in speed and coming up to the door of my car.
The highway straightens out as the sedan veers hard into my side, pushing my back end off the highway again. I overcorrect and slam my driver’s side into the sedan when I make it back onto the highway.
The chase continues down the highway as I ram my car into the sedan, before veering back into my lane. I realized in the adrenaline rush of the car chase that I forgot to mind–link my mate.
A mistake that could prove fatal.
A guard rail over a bridge proves to be the perfect opportunity for the sedan to ram my side again, the crunch of metal is loud as my car smashes into the guard rail and screeches down the length of it as we both continue to drive.
The car comes to the end of the rail and catches on the flood caution sign, causing my car to whip to the right. My rear end spins 180 degrees as I slam sideways into the earth below. I roll side over side down the embankment.
I scream for my fur baby as my ears start to ring, and my vision becomes blurry. I am nauseous from the amount of times my head whips around. The car eventually comes to a rest upside down.
I hang from my seat. blood rushing to my head. My pulse pounds in my temples as warm blood trickles down my arms onto the ceiling of the car. I groan as I search around for my seat belt and click the button, falling to the roof of the bar below, landing hardly on my wrists. I hiss in pain and try to turn around, digging around the census papers for my tail tumbler.
All the papers we need will be scattered throughout the countryside.
Damn it.
Unbelievably, the car is still running, which also makes me nervous. I kick the shattered drivers side window repeatedly until I can push through the web of glass and crawl through it to the outside.
I growl in anger as I slide across the broken glass, feeling it dig into my palms.
Whoever is responsible for this will pay.
And I can’t find my fur baby.
I stand and become extremely lightheaded as a figure comes down the embankment toward me.

My vision blurs again as my rejected mate comes into view. I sway on my feet, blood running over my lip.
“Cyrus…” I mind–link as everything goes black.
