I can’t see her, but I can smell her. Sour lemons assault my senses and I know that Della must be around somewhere. Not wanting the drama, I wrap up my lunch with Ayla to head back to the pack house. Thr drive should be pretty straightforward, but I find wanting to take more time, the longest routes, all in an effort to stall leaving Ayla. I know it, but I don’t quite understand it. She’s staring out the window taking everything in. I thought she would be more afraid after being caged for so long, but she’s stronger than I realized.
