A man stood at the entrance of the mage’s hut, his aura indescribable as he looked at the mages inside the hut.
When they saw it was, they immediately got on their knees, respect mixed with fear crawling on their skin.
How was it possible that a mage of that level was on Earth, roaming around such minor mages?
They looked at the man’s gaze and noticed it was fixed on the girl in their hut, making one thing clear. He was here for her.
Cyrus tilted his head slightly as he looked at the man, observing his every move like a hawk, ready to strike and attack if the man dared to hurt his wife.
“We meet again,” The man said to Amelia.
These words alone sent a ripple of emotions across the mages. So the man has met this girl before? Was it the reason she knew he was here? Was her mark that powerful to summon mages of that caliber?
The females who hadn’t seen her past or touched her looked at the girl in awe, but the leader, who was well aware of the importance of her history, didn’t dare raise his head to look at the girl before this man.
“Indeed,” Amelia said.
Her expression was soft and approachable, but her eyes held a completely different story.
“I didn’t know you would be so eager to know about the truth of this mark,” The man said.
Amelia nodded.
“You guys left me no choice. I had to do something to know about myself, about the real me and my purpose of being here,” Amelia said.
The man hummed, the weight of his aura still pressing down on the other mages.
He extended his hand, and Amelia walked to him, placing her hand in his.
“You should’ve told me. I would’ve told you everything. I recognize you,” he said.
Amelia tilted her head in mild curiosity.
This time her eyes turned darker, and she looked at the man with a dark smile.
“Do you recognize me for real? If yes, why are you still standing before me?” She asked.
Her voice was calm, like that of an ocean, like that of the eye of a cyclone holding the storm within.
“My apologies,” the man said, and then, to everyone’s horror, he did something that no one expected him to do.
The man got on his left knee, still holding her hand as he bowed his head to her.
“I am under your care,” Arnold said.
Amelia smiled.
“It’s good you know your place,” Amelia said, and she removed her hand from his grip before turning.
“This girl is too oblivious about everything. Being trapped in this weak body, I honestly feel tired. She is bound to emotions, pathetic bonds that only pull her back like crabs.” Amelia turned around to look at Cyrus, her voice colder and darker with the edge of something sinister.
“You still haven’t claimed her. What are you waiting for? For Kyle to claim her first? Because from where I can see things, you are going to lose your authority over her,” Amelia said.
It was evident to Cyrus that Amelia wasn’t in her right mind. She was acting like someone else, as if she were possessed.
He kept his calm, not reverting to this venomous energy, not giving it any importance.
“You can talk to her. She is the energy that resides inside Amelia.” Arnold stood from the ground after paying his respects.
“You mean to say she is a part of Amelia?” He asked.
“You don’t know about her, do you?” Arnold asked.
Cyrus looked at the woman, who looked back at him, her gaze much colder, and the moon goddess forbade him from thinking like that, but in this moment, she looked so fucking hot that he wanted to fuck her then and there.
However, now wasn’t the time to think about such things. It was time to know about what was happening with his wife and if it was that serious.
And why the hell was she attracted to that man when she was his woman?
She clearly loved him more.
“It’s true. I don’t know much about her. Care to explain what is going on?” Cyrus asked.
“History repeats itself, King Cyrus. The sins of your ancestors are being passed down to their descendants. The curse that was laid upon you for breaking something beyond repair has returned. The woman who cried tears of blood, the boon bestowed to her by the moon goddess, is finally working,” Arnold said.
Cyrus furrowed his brows.
For some reason, he felt like he knew what kind of history he was talking about, but he wanted to be sure of everything before making any assumptions.
“You mean it’s related to that?” Cyrus asked.
He didn’t need to take the name of the person it was related to. The history of that woman was a cursed one. Anyone who took the name of her pitiful self was alone, subjected to immense bad luc,k and it wasn’t even a superstition. It was a folk tale that had stayed with them for centuries.
“The woman who was stone-pelted at. The princess of the mages who died, taking away the soul of the mages with her, all bound to bonds of love. She sacrificed herself for the kings of two species who never saw her love, who never saw her real self until she was dead,” Arnold explained.
Cyrus gulped.
Did he mean to say his wife was an heir to that mage? No. How was that even possible? She was a healer. Her father was a healer, and her mother was the golden blood-bearing healer. There was no way this was true.
Because if it was…that wasn’t the only truth that was going to give him a hard time.
Seeing the hesitance on Cyrus’s face, Arnold clapped his hands.
“You guys can sit straight. Let’s talk over some snacks,” The man said to the mages before turning his gaze to Amelia.
The mages clicked their fingers, a mage full of snacks appearing before them.
Under Arnold’s guidance, everyone sat around the table while Amelia sat at the head chair, Cyrus sitting beside her in a protective gesture.
The head of the three mages grabbed a glass of water to quench his thirst. It was too much to take in for him.
Arnold saw Cyrus’s complicated expression and cleared his throat.
“My bad. I started explaining the hard stuff first before introducing myself. Maybe that would make things easier to understand,” Arnold said.
He walked to Cyrus and extended his hand.
“Hello, I am Arnold Grims, the leader of the mage group and your wife’s biological father,” Arnold said.
The mage, who was drinking water, spat the water before him in utter shock.
What did he say?
