Chapter 84
King Cyrus reached the Sin Banned Pack, and Fabian looked at Killian’s Beta, Joseph.
“Call your alpha over and tell him King Cyrus is here,” Fabian said.
Joseph looked at the king and bowed out of respect.
Even the King was wearing the half mask that revealed his lips and jaws, one look into his eyes was enough to tell him that the person before him wasn’t here for any funeral.
“With due respect, our Alpha is mourning the loss of his mother, sir. I am afraid he won’t be able to entertain you,” Joseph said.
It was a protocol in their pack.
The family member of the deceased wasn’t supposed to leave the room where the funeral was held for at least 24 hours.
“Has she been buried?” Cyrus asked, no empathy or sympathy in his voice.
Joseph looked at Fabian but nodded nonetheless.
“Where is the funeral being held?” Fabian asked, understanding his King’s intentions.
Joseph gulped.
He had heard about Amelia’s marriage to King Cyrus when Killian was raging about how Amelia had changed after getting drunk a few weeks ago.
He went on about how she wouldn’t listen to him. The same girl who used to beg for his attention and desire his touch was not cold and distant, and acted like his touch would corrupt her.
And today their alpha dared to grab Amelia’s throat, almost killing her.
For him, that girl might be the same healer who used to pursue him, but in reality, she was the wife of the future King, now, a man who was already called the King even without taking his throne because of his aura and power in the kingdom.
The look on King Cyrus’s face also did nothing to hide his intentions, and he was afraid that King Cyrus might actually try to kill their alpha.
Thus, he tried to delay the matters.
After all, he knew the council members were on their way.
“Sir, the healers and alphas of other packs have arrived. Should we take them to the funeral room?” Their Gamma arrived at the same time.
Joseph closed his eyes for a brief second.
There was no turning back now.
Joseph nodded and asked the Gamma to bring them here.
He was still hoping that the King wouldn’t behave irrationally with the other alphas around because he still needed their vote later during the King trials.
The triplet alphas saw King Cyrus standing there, wearing his half mask.
They bowed to him in respect. Cyrus looked at them briefly before averting his gaze.
“Let’s go,” Joseph’s fingers trembled, and he clenched his fists, which didn’t go unnoticed by the alphas who were following him.
Something wasn’t right.
It was true that the environment was silent because of the death of the former Luna, Alpha Killian’s mother, but for some reason, the beta looked more scared than sad.
Alpha Killian raised his head as soon as he heard the commotion, and his gaze settled on one man, whose gaze was expressionless.
He stood from his place and walked to them.
“Thank you for coming,” He said to them collectively before bowing to King Cyrus, a little dejectedly.
Cyrus extended his hand to shake his hand.
Killian looked at the other alphas and stepped ahead to shake his hand.
However, as soon as his hand clasped around King Cyrus’s hand, he felt a bone-crushing pain in his hand, making him almost double over in pain.
“It must be really painful for you, Alpha Killian,” Cyrus said.
Killian nodded in extreme pain, squaring his jaws.
“But that doesn’t give you the right to move your hand freely. Does it?” King Cyrus asked.
Killian didn’t dare raise his gaze against King Cyrus, and Joseph’s heart skipped a beat.
As a beta, there was nothing he could do to save his alpha in a situation he had invited upon himself.
The sound of the helicopter arriving made him sigh in relief, and he quickly looked at his beta as a signal to bring over the council members quickly.
“Do you understand what I am saying?” King Cyrus asked.
Killian gulped.
“The judgment got the better of me. I reacted without knowing the truth Killian started to excuse his behaviour, and the man scoffed.
He leaned a little to get to Killian’s eye level.
“I am not her. This pitiful excuse of an apology doesn’t work on me,” He whispered before he stood straight and removed his hand from Alpha Killian’s hand.
Alpha Killian breathed in relief when the King let go, but in the next moment, King Cyrus grabbed his throat, lifting him off the ground with a single hand.
All the alphas stood there, utterly shocked.
What the hell was going on? Why was King Cyrus so angry with Alpha Killian? And why the hell was he using violence when the man was already broken in pity because of his mother’s death?
Their opinions started turning against the King.
The council members rushed to the area when they heard what was happening.
“King Cyrus, please let go of Alpha Killian,” Brandon urged.
Amelia, who heard from Miss Quinn when she returned to the palace that King Cyrus had gone to the Sin Banned pack and knew the man might lose his temper, called Kyle to drop her off at the pack before it was too late.
She told Miss Quinn that she urgently needed to leave, and since King Cyrus or Fabian wasn’t picking up the call, Miss Quinn had no choice but to let her go.
Half an hour ago, she was scared of high speed, but sitting behind Kyle, she closed her eyes as he rode the bike at 200km/h.
She reached just in time and nearly ran inside the pack.
Kyle looked at her with complicated emotions but decided to drop the matter for now, happy that she could trust him enough to call him when she needed help.
As soon as she reached the funeral room and saw what was happening, she rushed forward.
Fabian looked at their Princess in concern, seeing Miss Quinn’s message only now.
On one hand, he was happy that she was here and that the King might not kill Killian, saving him from future backlash; on the other hand, he was afraid that people would misunderstand her intentions.
“Let go of him, King Cyrus,” Amelia said, breathing heavily since she had to run here.
King Cyrus, who was influenced by Sylas and didn’t hear anyone’s voice, snapped out of it as soon as he heard her voice.
Brandon and Ethan turned to Amelia before nodding at her in acknowledgement, something that didn’t go unnoticed by Ryan and Aaron.
