Chapter 13
Alora’s POV
“You’re lying!” I cried out desperately as sobs after sobs escaped from my throat. “She’s lying Alpha King. Please, don’t believe her. I didn’t do it p>
Why is it that bad things always happens to me? Do I really have such bad luck? Did I commit a crime in my previous life to warrant such hatred and pain from this one?
“If you saw her take it then why didn’t you say anything until now?” Ryan asked, his eyes pinning her down.
“Because I was scared that she might try to hide or deny it,” She answered, her eyes unable to meet mine or Ryan’s. I could see that she was fidgeting really badly which only meant that she was telling the truth and that someone else had put her up to this.
“So I waited and went to Lady Keira to report the situation to her and she told me that she would handle it and speak to you about it.” She added and he dismissed her to stand with the others.
My brain started calculating at that moment. Kiera? Did Kiera really do this to me? Did she really tell the Alpha King that I had stole?
Was this supposed to be the punishment for catching her in a heated passionate session with that man?
So she planned all this to frame me? I glanced over at the crowd and the minute our faces met, she gave a subtle smile as if she was silently acknowledging all my questions.
“Kiera, are you sure that she took our mother’s jewelry?” Ryan turned to ask her and she stepped forward, masking her face with a sympathetic look.
“She did, brother.” She admitted. “At first I didn’t want to believe it but it’s true. Even last night, she snuck into my room after dark when I didn’t send for her and when I caught her, she ran away p>
“Why would she run away if she wasn’t planning or hiding something?” She asked and I saw everyone murmur silently amongst themselves, believing her lies.
“Since then, I realized that she was acting suspicious so I secretly asked a maid to tail her without her knowledge and as usual, she didn’t disappoint p>
“She tried to steal from mother Ryan,” She gave him a pitiful look, as if she was about to cry. “After everything we’ve been through as kids, I never thought that Alora would try to hurt me like this one day p>
“If you wanted something so badly then you could’ve asked or better still, stolen from me instead of my mother but She trailed off, giving me a disappointed look.
“I treated you like a sister you know,” She faced me, fake tears spilling from her eyes. “Even when my brother tried to torture you a lot of times, I defended and stood up for you a lot of times because I thought that I knew you but I guess I was wrong p>
I am too stunned to speak. Not only was she the mastermind but she so good at acting too. Whatever performance I might put up now will never compare to this show in front of everyone.
“These are the jewelries brother,” She reached out to her pockets and pulled it out. “I had asked my maid to retrieve them from her room after you made the arrest p>
She handed it to Ryan as he carefully examined them. He tightened his face in anger as the veins in his neck and forehead popped out.
“That place was our sanctuary and the only thing we have left of our mother,” She continued, adding more fuel to the flames.
“Your family has taken so much from us. Wasn’t it enough? How much could you possibly take before you’ve satisfied your greed of destroying us p>
“Keira is trying to frame me Alpha King. You’ve known me for a long time and you know that I will never do something like this.” I wailed, bawling my eyes out.
“I’ve also known Keira all my life.” He answered. “She’s my only sister and she treated you like one so why would she do something like this to you? She has everything that a Lady would ever want so why would she frame a dirty lowlife like you p>
“Because she doesn’t want you to know the truth.” I blurted out and I saw Keira’s face freeze in shock.
“I went to her room last night but it wasn’t to steal. A maid came to inform me that Kiera had sent for me but even that was a lie. It was part of a c-conspiracy.” I hiccupped, my eyes swollen from crying too much.
“I went there because I thought it was the truth but I didn’t know that the maid wanted me to see Kiera in the arms of a man taking sexual pleasures from each other p>
He slapped me across the face that I tasted blood. I yelped in pain, the air vanishing from my lungs all of a sudden at that painful intrusion.
I raised up my head slowly to meet his raging eyes. He was mad angry that I could almost see the smoke coming out from his ears.
“How dare you, accuse my sister of being in the arms of another man!” He screamed at me and slapped me again. This time, I’m sure that his hands had imprinted on my face could I could feel the sting more intensively that the first one.
“Do you know that such claims can be labelled as treason?” He asked but I’m not sure he wanted me to answer that question.
“You want to defame and slander my sister’s character in the eyes of everyone? How dare you, Alora!” With loud groan, he grabbed my neck and tightened his around it till I almost passed out.
“It’s all my fault for being too lenient with you. I should’ve killed you that night when I killed your parents.” He declared, his whole body vibrating in anger.
“First you steal and claim to be innocent then you said that a maid could vouch for you which ended up to be false as well and now, you’re trying to defame my sister’s character p>
He chuckled bitterly, “It’s all my fault for letting a deadly poison like you into my palace. I curse the day that I met you Alora, you disgust me!” He spat furiously and turned to the chief guard.
“Take her to the fields and whip her until she cannot feel the flesh on her skin.” He ordered staring at me with a hateful glare.
“Make sure that she never recovers from it. And if she dies in the process, dispose of her body with immediate effect!” He added and stormed away. A stray tear slid down my cheeks when I realized that I am officially doomed and might never recover from this.
