Chapter 14
“I– I have to go, Beta Negan.” I stuttered, subconsciously placing my arms over my breasts as if he hadn’t already squeezed the life out of them during our passionate lovemaking.
However, before I could step down from the bed, he grabbed my elbow, forcing me to glance at him.
“Beta Negan, please.” I begged, my mouth quivering with a nauseating mix of embarrassment and fear.
I needed to get out of here before someone caught us. Before Kaene catches us.
Just then, the Beta sat up on the bed, using his knees to support himself while placing his hands on both my shoulders.
He made me look him in the eyes, causing me to swallow hard.
Now that I’d gotten the release I so desperately needed, I didn’t see how hot he was again. All I saw now was the face of the man whom I cheated on my mate with.
“So we’re back with you calling me by my title?” He chuckled dryly, lowering his gaze while shaking his head. “I knew we would regret this p>
He knew we would regret this?
My face heated up with anger as I yanked my arm out of his grip. “If you knew we’d regret this, why did you carry through with it? You could’ve easily p>
“Easily what, Phoebe?” Negan’s voice suddenly lost the kindness and calm that I’d grown fond of, his gaze becoming stern. “You’re in heat, Phoebe. And YOU threw yourself at me. Not to mention you’re extremely attractive He trailed off.
However, my face flushed slyly when I heard him saying all that.
By the moon, I needed a reality check!
“Listen.” His voice was attention-grabbing, bringing me back to the present. “What has happened, has happened. I don’t want to say I’m disappointed in myself for betraying my friend, but I am. I don’t know what came over me; I usually have more self-control than this p>
He groaned, rubbing his forehead in frustration, trying hard to avoid my gaze.
I couldn’t help sighing, my right arm still subconsciously covering my breasts.
Eventually, however, Negan raised his head with a decisive look in his eyes. “Kaene must never know about this. Trust me, our friendship has lasted for years and he’ll be crushed if he finds out about my betrayal p>
Well, at least he was just as guilty and ashamed as me. That meant he was a gentleman p>
‘Or that could simply just be the bare minimum.’ I added in my thoughts.
Anyway, I nodded my head in agreement with Negan’s words, taking in a deep breath and bracing myself.
So much had happened in the span of one night, I didn’t even know where to start. Gosh, tomorrow couldn’t come soon enough p>
After making sure we both had a lengthy shower to rid ourselves of the shameful smell of sex lingering on our bodies, Beta Negan escorted me out of his private residence.
We walked through the streets of the huge estate in silence, the only sound I could hear being his breathing and the surrounding chirping of crickets.
However, the silence was soon broken when Negan suddenly coughed awkwardly, forcing me to turn my gaze to him.
“I had fun, by the way.” He muttered, scratching the back of his head with a complicated expression on his face.
What the heck?
How could he say something like that when we were supposed to be remorseful?
“Beta Negan, I don’t think I’m comfortable talking about… THAT, right now. Especially not out here in the open.” I scanned our surroundings nervously, half expecting someone to jump out with cameras.
Just as I finished speaking, however, the unexpected happened.
Seemingly out of nowhere, Elsa Thatcher came into view, heading in our direction with her usual proud bratty smile on her face.
I hesitated, hoping to turn back and move in the opposite direction, but it was far too late.
“Well, well, well. Look what we have here,” Elsa remarked as soon as she got to us, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “The Moon’s Chosen and our esteemed Beta, Negan. You have some nerves still showing your face around here after the Alpha rejected you p>
My heart sank into my stomach, a guilty knot making itself known.
But behind that guilt was also a sudden burst of anger as I pointed my finger at Elsa, taking her by surprise.
“Listen here you overgrown Chihuahua, I never even wanted to be the Moon’s Chosen in the first place. Why the heck are you giving me shit about it?” I hissed, all my pent-up frustration seeping out in one go. “If you feel so confident in your ‘glamorous’ silicone beauty then why are you so threatened by me p>
The air became silent as soon as those words left my mouth.
Elsa gawked at me, her eyes fluttering speechlessly. But a scowl eventually appeared on her face as she snarled, raising her hand.
“How dare you, you wretched little thing.” Her voice rang as her hand made its way to my face.
But I braced myself, my wolf already itching for me to teach this bitch a lesson.
However, before the slap could land on my face, Negan’s hand shot forward, grabbing Elsa by the wrist, causing a gasp to escape her lips.
“That’s enough, Elsa.” His tone was neutral, not giving room for suspicion from the bratty rich girl.
But that didn’t last for long as Elsa yanked her hand out of the Beta’s grip, her glare intense.
“You dare defend this servant girl?” She snapped as if she’d forgotten she was talking to the Beta.
It seemed Negan was bent on reminding her of that fact as he uttered coldly. “I am your Beta, Elsa. Do not make the mistake of ruffling my feathers p>
However, it seemed there was no stopping this bitch as she harrumphed loudly. “And do YOU know who my father is? Don’t try threatening me because of this… Trash p>
That tears it!
With my hands clenched into fists, I aimed a punch at Elsa’s jaw, damning all the consequences
Before I could get the chance of hitting her, however, a domineering male voice that I had hoped I wouldn’t hear tonight, boomed through the night.
“What in the moon goddess’ name is going on here p>
