Chapter 187

I could hear quickened footsteps as I left the room, Iona’s obviously but I didn’t look back, I simply ignored her. “Do you know what you have done?” she asked, anger visibly laced in her tone.

I turned back sharply feeling a wave of fury, I wasn’t about to back down from a confrontation especially since it had to do with my husband. Gosh! It felt nice to finally call him that, focus Phoebe, focus.

“What have I done, Iona? I simply bathed my husband, is there a problem?” I asked as I folded my arms across my chest.

She clenched her fists. “He is not your husband or your mate or anything to you, not here. He is a man and you are a woman, he will have that bath again, without you p>

Is this woman crazy? I became increasingly annoyed by her tone and choice of words. It is official, I don’t like her.

I should put this woman in her place but I suddenly realized, we were here to see the ancient ones for the sake of the pack, for the sake of the lost souls, for a solution. Why was I losing my temper over this? Perhaps it’s the disconnection from my wolf.

It is just a bath alright, those maids wouldn’t rape him or something but I still couldn’t shake off the dissatisfaction I felt from imagining their hands on him.

I took in a deep breath as I calmed myself, I glanced at her, forcing a smile. “Very well then, you can go ahead p>

Her eyes widened in surprise, seemingly from my sudden calm demeanor. She looked at me, scrutinizing me under her owl’s like gaze and I suddenly felt exposed under the robe I wore. I adjusted my robe and stood with my head held high, even if I would not say my mind to her right now, I would not allow her make me feel intimated.

“Let this be the last time you defy the ancient ones Phoebe, do not start what you can’t finish.” She was probably still angry as I could see the scowl on her face.

I was angry too, she was rude, she purposely called me Phoebe after I corrected her earlier, heck! She was even threatening me.

The only thing stopping me from punching her face is that I want to be on my best behavior before I see the ancient ones, I was beginning to get tired. She walked past me, glancing back once more as if to me tell me it was not over yet.

“Crazy witch.” I muttered as I found my way to my room.

I dropped my robe on the floor as I got into my room, trying to wear fresh clothes but I remembered that this wasn’t my suite and I didn’t have fresh clothes, goddess! I didn’t even have fresh underwear. My frustration kicked in with the whole situation.

As I looked around, I found a small closet and I angrily stomped over, opening it. I saw a long cream-colored gown, with no extra features, it was so basic and to top it all, it was slightly transparent.

“Can this place get any worse?” I sighed.

I pulled it out and just by the corner, I saw a pair of cream-colored shorts and a long piece of cloth, looking like a band aid.

Why was everything cream colored though?

I picked both up as I wore the pair of shorts and wrapped the long piece of cloth around my chest, feeling more comfortable than I thought I would, I guess that serves the role of a bra and an underwear. I wore the gown and I couldn’t help but chuckle seeing how I looked in it.

I got on the bed trying to sleep when I heard a knock. ” I’m coming” I said, groaning as I got up from the bed.

It was a maid at the door, she lowered her eyes, slightly bowing. Now that’s what I call respect remembering how Iona refused to say Luna Phoebe after I had corrected her.

“Breakfast is ready, ma’am” she said.

Oh right! I’d forgotten about that, it would be the first good meal since we got here.

” Thank you, please lead the way.” I adjusted my flowy dress as I followed the maid, she looked quite young compared to the rest I’ve seen.

Finally, we got to the table and I could see a lot of different delicacies, how did they get all these in this secluded place? Magic? I would not be surprised if that was the answer.

The table was pretty long so I took a seat by the right of the chair at the top of the table, I saved it for Kaene, it was the way I sat back in the Alpha’s mansion. I was the first to arrive so I decided to wait for the others, my stomach grumbled at the sight and smell of the good food in front of me but held out while I fondled with my wedding ring.

I smiled as I touched it, I felt calm.

Who would have thought I would get married to the arrogant alpha that I hated? I fell in love and married him, I smiled once again at that thought. I pray everything goes well when we see the ancient ones.

“I want everything to go well, please dear moon goddess p>

I silently prayed, clasping my hands together in front of me. Could she hear my prayers with the disconnection from my wolf? I really hoped she could.

Soon enough, Kaene came in, dressed in a pair of loose shorts and a shirt both in the same color as mine. I laughed as I looked at him, it was weird seeing him dressed in any other thing asides his suits and ’all black p>

He found his way to the seat I reserved for him and looked at me amusingly ” Why are you laughing, Mi Amor p>

However, before I could reply him, I heard Iona’s disturbing voice from behind. “What are you doing sitting on that chair Alpha Kaene? That seat is meant for Elder Gita alone p>
