Chapter 189
Negan
All I remembered was being hit by the spike
of the panther like creature. A direct hit at my stomach, I felt a wave of pain
shoot through my body.
It hurt more than I thought it would,
considering the pain I went through when I fought before taking over the
brotherhood.
I thought I was bigger than pain.
I felt blood, the warm liquid pushed through
my fingers as I pressed against the wound. I walked to a tree nearby, placing
my back on it as I tried to stabilize my breathing.
A violent cough escaped my mouth and I
grunted in pain. That successfully attracted Phoebe’s attention and she turned
her gaze to me.
She frowned, horrification mapping her face
as she realized I was hit. I staggered towards her but I felt my legs lose
their strength. And then, she ran to me, screaming to elder Gita for help.
“I’ll be fine honey.” I mumbled
while using my bloody hand to caress her face. She was beautiful, even with
distress written on her face.
I was glad that she felt distressed because
of me.
” You don’t need to scream so
much” I struggled to speak as unconsciousness seeped in.
I still thought of Phoebe in my state. Her
beautiful face.
My eyes fluttered and they soon went shut. Pulling
me to an unknown darkness.
It seemed like I was floating in a
bottomless dark pit with no direction or path. After what seemed like a lifetime, I felt an immense
amount of heat enveloping me.
I searched frantically for the source of the
heat but couldn’t find it. It felt uncomfortable and I didn’t want to stay there
anymore.
I heard faint voices but their words were
incoherent. Suddenly, the voices became clearer and louder.
Now, I was fighting hard to see these people,
my eyes darted around in search of them only to see nothing but darkness.
My eyes shot open and I drew in a sharp
breath, it was a relief to be out of that place.
I saw a woman staring right at me, I didn’t
know her but she smiled, seemingly happy to see me awake.
“The Beta is awake, you can stop
placing the candles now.” She raised her palm in a stop motion to someone
nearby.
I turned my head and saw that I was
surrounded by candles and a few young women, presumably maids.
That was where the heat came from. I
remembered the darkness and my face formed a frown.
“Where am I?” I asked out of
curiosity. I shifted, trying to sit up.
“You are in the home of the ancient
ones, kind Beta. You need to stay still while they move the candles p>
I see, they made it here. The home of the
ancient ones.
“Remove all candles except the ones around
his head, he still needs to heal.” She spoke with a calm voice.
I kept silent as they moved the candles.
As hard as I hated to admit, I felt weak.
The last time I felt this way was with my
father at least before he died by my hands.
I felt weak without my magic.
My magic had always put me above others in the brotherhood, that was how I became the leader. They rebelled against me even
with my strong magic.
With it gone, they would probably kill me.
Traitors.
I was always in control, playing with my
pawns. My plan was slowly unfolding till she came in.
Phoebe.
Heck! I was dying and all I could think of
was how beautiful she was.
I cringed at that thought.
This was her fault but I found it hard to
blame her.
Rowland was right. I hated when that idiot
was right.
She changed me.
Anger stirred within me, not at anyone but at
myself. When did I become soft?
I needed to stay away or I’d keep ruining
my plans because of her. My plans were far more important now.
I had gone too far to stop because of a
woman.
I will destroy that pack and make Kaene
fall at my feet while he begs me to spare his life before I slash my claws at
his throat.
Arrogant pure bloods.
“Do you feel better now?” A voice
rudely cut off my thoughts bringing me back to reality.
Right, I was hit! My hand trailed to my
stomach and I winced as I touched the spot. It was getting better, I had gone
through worse in the past.
I forced a smile as I replied her, I had to
keep up my ’good beta’ facade anyways “Yes, thank you for your help. I
feel good p>
She nodded at my response “Good, I
will bring in the rest of your pack.” I only smiled back in response as
she waltzed out of the room.
My smile dropped, I didn’t want to see
them. Not now.
A few minutes after, I heard Kaene call out
my name. He looked genuinely relieved to see me alive as he flashed me a smile.
What a fool!
You should have left me to die.
I barely kept up with the conversation, they
spoke of how Lycan Davos carried me all the way and what not.
I glanced at Phoebe and as always, her
beauty was ethereal. I couldn’t resist the urge to ask but I kept it formal
” Luna, are you well p>
She smiled as she spoke “Yes, Beta
Negan. Thank you. I’m glad you’re out of danger now p>
I noticed she called me by my title, I
cared less now.
I was happy to see them leave, I needed
space to think of my next moves that was until Kaene turned back to ask me
about how viciously I killed the hunters that attacked the pack.
At that moment, a violent fit of cough
escaped my mouth, perhaps the shock that he kept his eyes on me during the
attack caused it.
The fool was finally getting observant.
I came up with the perfect lie I could
silently hoping he would not ask why I didn’t shift.
Finally, they left and I was alone with my thoughts. I tried to sit up once again.
However, before I could sit up, a maid came to inform of a cleansing bath I would need have the next day and she finally escorted me to my room.
