Chapter 21

Kaene

When it seemed like the two maids, Miranda and Brittany, were completely oblivious to Phoebe’s whereabouts, I decided to take a little stroll around the estate.

I was able to rely on my werewolf sense of smell to sniff her out.

Her scent made my wolf feral with a burning desire to bed our mate. And boy, did I want to do the same in a thousand ways.

‘Oh, we’ll get to do that soon enough.’ I thought to myself, a slight smirk curling up my lips as I strolled into the night.

I found her. The little troublemaker had been arguing with Elsa Thatcher and stood close to Negan.

There was something off about the way Negan stared at Elsa while she hurled insults at Phoebe, but I ignored that.

After dragging her home, Phoebe pleaded with me to give her tonight to rest, and then she’ll do anything I want.

Anything? Hehe… how delightful.

I agreed to her wishes, but made a promise:

“The coming nights are going to be devoid of rest for you. I will fuck you until you disappear into the world of ecstasy only to pull you back to this mortal plane and fuck you again. Until your body and mind are unable to function without my touch. So, brace yourself p>

The smile on my face deepened when I saw the frown appearing on her face. There was just something exciting about getting her all riled up.

Anyway, I left her alone, already anticipating the following nights when I’d get to fulfill my promise.

I’d have fun.

The next morning, I woke up with a nagging headache. My wolf had disturbed my sleep all night, trying to get me to meet his mate.

But it was better this way. If we’d slept in the same room… I wouldn’t have been able to withhold myself and would’ve fucked her last night.

Suddenly, my doors burst open and my mother walked in with a smile on her face. “Good morning, my darling. How was your night p>

I arched an eyebrow, staring at her like she’d said something atrocious.

The last time I saw her last night, she was mad at me. What’s with this cheery attitude she was putting up this morning?

“My night was restful, Mother. I hope yours was as well.” I uttered as I jumped out of bed, grabbing my robe which lay on the bed.

As I put it on and headed to the bathroom to freshen up, however, my mother spoke up. “You remember, Elsa, right p>

I squinted my eyes, swerving my head in her direction. Of course, I knew who Elsa was.

The woman had been trying to pair the two of us together for years.

“Yes, I remember Elsa, mother. Is this conversation going somewhere? I need to get ready and head to work.” I tried my best not to sound rude, but I was impatient.

All I could think of right now was Phoebe and it was nauseating.

“Well, I just wanted to let you know I’m bringing her into the pack house.” She revealed all of a sudden with a smirk. “She’s a good girl and I’m sure with time the two of you would p>

“No p>

My mother’s brows snapped into a frown at my abrupt interruption.

Her eyes fluttered with confusion as she asked. “You didn’t even let me finish. What do you mean ‘no p>

I clenched my fists, trying my best to hold in my irritation. Ugh, would this woman just let me be?

“Mother, I know what you’re trying to do and for the umpteenth time, I am not interested,” I stated simply, my expression blank. “You can bring Elsa into the mansion if you want, but don’t expect anything to come out of it. I have never and will never have any interest in her p>

This was getting way too old.

Was Elsa an attractive young lady? Yes. Was she smart? Also yes.

But her attitude was unbearable and I was certain I’d run mad if we ever got together. It was better to be safe than sorry.

Not to mention she seemed boring as hell. Not nearly as interesting as… Phoebe.

“Why would you even think that I was trying to get you two together?” My mother pouted, her mouth parting repeatedly. “I just want some company and she’s a really nice girl. Okay yes, maybe I do wish you two could get together instead of that wretched p>

“Mother!” I barked, my irritation reaching a new peak.

I had better things to do than stand here and listen to her talk shit about my mate. She could do that when I wasn’t around, I didn’t care.

“Fine, fine.” She raised her hands with a defeated sigh. “The maids helped me make breakfast. A lot of your favorite meals were included p>

She gave me a wink at the end before she turned around and walked away.

Now I had to think about how I would avoid Elsa Thatcher once she came here. She was surely going to cling to me like an annoying leech if we were nearby.

Sighing to myself, I proceeded to freshen up after which I dressed up in a suit and walked downstairs.

“Oh, you made it.” My mother, who was already sitting there, waved, drawing a seat for me.

“Where’s Phoebe?” I asked, sitting down beside her.

What came next was a harrumph from my mother, forcing me to turn my gaze to her.

“I already went to her room by myself to wake her up. Can you believe that girl was still asleep? I wonder how she was able to do her work as a maid. So lazy!” She spat.

And… That was my fault for asking her.

Looking away, I told a maid, Miranda, to get Phoebe and continued eating while briefly responding to my mother’s rambling once in a while.

However, my nose soon scrunched as I caught a fine scent waft into the dining room.

I raised my head, my gaze landing on Phoebe who looked… Ravishing.

It was hard withholding myself from staring too long, but I had to. I couldn’t let her think I was obsessed with her or something.

Just then, my mother chimed in, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Took you long enough p>

And here comes the drama p>
