Chapter 28
After all that, I watched as Beta Negan stepped out of my suite, with the two of us waving at each other before he did.
However, as soon as he closed the door behind him, I sighed.
“How am I supposed to prepare for a ball coming up next week?” I rubbed my forehead in thought as I walked to my closet to check out the clothes available.
When I opened it, I gasped, beyond impressed.
There were more clothes in here than all the clothes I’ve owned in my life combined.
The closet was so spacious that it served as a much smaller room of its own, with shoe racks and also clothes of various kinds.
“Now, are any of these dresses ball-worthy?” I asked myself as I began searching for the perfect ball gown.
I wanted something that wasn’t too flashy but knowing Kaene… He might actually desire the opposite for me.
“Well, screw him and his desires.” I harrumphed to myself as I stepped out of the closet.
However, the moment I did, I heard a knock on my door.
But I didn’t bother rushing to go answer it this time, instead taking my time to put on my clothes.
“Ma’am, it’s Brittany and Miranda.” Brittany’s voice sounded from the other end.
Oh, I haven’t seen her throughout today. I wonder if Miranda had filled her in on all the latest gossip concerning me and Kaene’s relationship already.
“The Alpha sent a tailor to come take your measurements for the upcoming ball,” Miranda added, forcing me to raise my head.
Of course, he wanted to make a dress for me. How had I expected to wear any of my ’old’ dresses to such an event?
“Come in.” I blurted when I was finally done changing my clothes into a pair of blue jeans and a black top that lacked shoulders.
Right on cue, Miranda and Brittany barged in, bowing slightly to me.
Following behind them was a flamboyant man who looked to be in his early forties with a funny brown mustache and a pair of glasses.
“You have to be kidding me,” I muttered to myself as I got up, plastering a smile on my face.
It seemed the so-called designer also gave me a demeaning look, adjusting his glasses before he cleared his throat. “Greetings, Luna Phoebe. I’m the Alpha’s designer and I’m here to take measurements for a gown. Now, before we begin, I’ll show you the gown idea the Alpha showed me p>
He suddenly brought out an iPad, handing it over to me. On the screen of the iPad was a picture of one of the most beautiful gowns I’ve ever seen.
It was royal blue, sparkled with several crystals, and was embroidered with lace at the bottom that was of a lighter shade of blue. It was also form-fitting, the v-neckline made to expose just a little cleavage.
“It’s… Beautiful.” I blurted speechlessly.
This gown looked like it was worth a fortune.
Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was worth six digits or even seven!
“Of course, it’s beautiful.” The designer scoffed, grabbing the iPad and taking it off my hand with so much sass that would leave the Queen of England herself in the mud. “I told you, ma’am, the Alpha picked the design out for you himself. It’s an original design that former Luna Catherine used during her Luna Ball p>
I gulped at the mention of Kaene’s mother and any link that I might have with her through this dress.
Knowing her, I wouldn’t be surprised if she accused me of trying to steal her ’style’ or something.
“Or, excuse me Mr I paused, realizing I didn’t know his name.
“Mr. Mathias, ma’am.” He responded, giving me a curious stare.
I gulped, glancing at Miranda and Brittany who both stood there pretending like they weren’t secretly watching the whole thing.
Bloody gossipers p>
“Right, Mr. Mathias. Is it possible for me to tweak the design of the gown just a little bit?” I asked, crossing my fingers.
There was nothing wrong with the gown… It seemed like a dream come true to wear it.
However, there was something wrong with the woman who wore it before me.
Mentally.
“Of course.” Mathias nodded, gawking at me like that was the most obvious question ever. “The picture I just showed you is meant to be an inspiration. Just take away what you dislike or add what you’d like in it and I’d tweak it to your taste. If you want, I could also make a new gown from scratch p>
“No, no, no.” I waved my hands in front of my face, shaking my head with a nervous chuckle. “There’s no need for that. Tweaking this one would do just fine p>
Mathias nodded, typing a few things on his iPad before raising his head. “Very well then. I’ll take your measurements and then you’ll tell me what you want p>
I nodded, taking a deep breath as he began taking my measurements.
My breathing felt pressured, causing my chest to tighten. This was all too much.
But I had no choice but to adapt to the snobby, rich lifestyle of these people. As the old saying goes… When in Rome, you behave like the Romans.
“Done.” Mathias stepped away from me, jotting down the final points he’d taken from my measurements. “Now, tell me what you want changed p>
I stretched my hands, taking the iPad off his.
It didn’t take me long to start pointing out things. “Could you take away the extra clothing at the chest area? Make it even more… Form-fitting. Also, take away the gloves and scarf. And then p>
Eventually, I pointed out all the things I needed to change calmly, enjoying myself a little too much.
“Okay, I’ve taken note of all your suggestions.” He took the iPad out of my hands, bowing slightly. “The gown will be ready on the night before the Ball. Have a nice day, Luna p>
And with that, he left, leaving me with Miranda and Brittany who stared at me expectantly.
I furrowed my eyebrows, noticing the hesitation in their eyes. “Uh… Is there anything you girls want to say p>
