Chapter 42

After arriving at the Alpha mansion, I didn’t bother taking off my clothes, realizing just then that my maids, who’d been following behind me throughout the night without even saying a word, were still behind me.

“Miranda, Barbara.” I turned around, acknowledging their existence from the distance they stood away from me. “You two can go rest, okay? Tonight has been… Hectic, to say the least p>

They both glanced at themselves, hesitant at first but eventually nodded, bowing slightly before scurrying away.

Finally p>

Bringing out my phone from a pocket I’d told the Alpha’s tailor to sew in when he asked if I wanted any modifications, I immediately dialed my brother’s number.

It had been a while since I talked with Caleb or my parents.

And with the recent poison attack on the high-class werewolves, I wanted him to hear about it from me first before hearing rumors from other people.

“Big sis, how are you?” His voice came from the other end, sounding a little groggy.

He’d probably been about to sleep before I called him.

Anyway, drawing in a deep breath, I muttered. “Not good, Caleb. Not good at all. Don’t tell anyone I told you this but the Luna Ball went to shit. They had to call it off and everyone’s going home p>

Unlike the reaction I’d expected from him, Caleb suddenly sniggered, causing my brows to snap into a frown as I walked toward the stairs close to the dining room.

“What’s so funny, huh?” I queried, confused about his reaction.

After laughing to his satisfaction, Caleb finally spoke up. “I mean, I’m sorry, sis, but those snobby nobles deserve whatever they’re getting. But now I’m curious about what it is. Were you guys attacked? Are you okay p>

Rolling my eyes, I hushed him. “You silly little twerp, of course, I’m fine! And as much as we hate the nobles, we shouldn’t be insensitive. People died tonight p>

I made sure my tone was low as I glanced around at the dining room and then at the stairs.

There was no one present and both parts of the mansion were brightly lit up, leaving the place visible to me.

Anyway, after talking to Caleb for a while, I was able to calm down a bit from the stress of the Ball.

He still didn’t know about my affair with Beta Negan and I hoped to hell that the rumors hadn’t gotten to him.

Soon enough, after hanging up, Kaene stepped into the house, looking beat up.

When he began complaining about the Ball and how the responsibility for everything that happened fell on his shoulders as the Alpha, I remembered Negan’s advice.

Make the first move p>

Stepping close to him, I placed my hands on Kaene’s shoulders, comforting him.

However, things became heated quicker than expected as he soon carried me away from the dining room to his suite upstairs and then we had sex.

Everything was going smoothly and I was having the time of my life… Until I felt a stinging pain coming from my neck, forcing me to try getting away from him before we even reached orgasm.

When we both reached orgasm, I sat there silently caressing the spot Kaene had bitten, realizing what he had done.

“Y– You marked me.” I ended up muttering as Kaene rested beside me, seemingly unbothered.

He seemed proud of himself as he responded, telling me that I was his and the mark was simply his way of showing people who didn’t have that in mind.

Was he fucking serious right now p>

The next morning, I woke up with a stream of sunlight hitting my face.

My eyes opened slowly, only for me to spot Kaene towering over me with a smug smirk on his face.

“Good morning, sleepy head.” He teased, snapping his fingers in front of my face. “Come on, wake up. I’m about to head to work p>

As my consciousness started coming back to me, I realized that I was still in his suite and was still very much naked.

However, he was already dressed up and smelled of lavender soap and a strong cologne that made me realize he’d already had his bath.

As I sat up, subconsciously using the cloth on the bed to cover my crotch, a sharp pain spread from my neck to all around my body.

My hand shot to the injured region, caressing it gently as I gritted my teeth.

Oh, right… He’d marked me last night.

“That thing still hurts?”Kaene arched an eyebrow, staring curiously at me as he adjusted his tie. “Or, are you just being dramatic to get my attention p>

And there he was… The arrogant prick I called my mate.

“Very funny, Kaene,” I mumbled, sighing to myself as I stepped down from the bed and waltzed toward his bathroom.

As I did, however, I noticed the way he gawked at me like I was a slab of meat, as if this was the first time he was seeing me naked.

Feeling a little creeped out, I coughed awkwardly. “Don’t you have work to go to?” I asked as I finally got to the bathroom, my back facing him.

I didn’t bother closing the door, stepping under the shower, and turning it on, allowing the cool water to wash down my body.

“Ah, the thrill that comes with seeing your mate naked never ends, Mi Chica Caliente.” He teased with a husky voice. “I believe you should know that by now p>

I scoffed to myself, using his soap to wash myself.

Was he insinuating that I was attracted by his nude form?

Well, if that was the case, then heck yeah, I was attracted; he was one of the hottest men I’d ever seen.

The best way to describe him was like a younger version of Henry Cavill, with a more athletic build and a little more facial hair.

But I couldn’t reveal that to him, of course. That would stroke his already enlarged–

Suddenly, my thoughts were cut short when two hands held onto my breasts from behind, causing me to hold my breath.

I could feel Kaene’s now wet shirt sticking to my naked body, his erection poking my ass as he kissed the back of my neck.

“So, do you feel the same about me?” He whispered into my ears with a mischievous tone, causing me to gulp.
