Dragging my heavy steps back to the pack house, as soon as I entered, I saw my belongings thrown on the floor.
When I caught sight of my father’s memorial portrait on the ground, my face turned as pale as a ghost.
I trembled as I picked up the portrait, my eyes red as I shouted at the maid.
“Who gave you permission to touch my father’s photo p>
without even lifting her eyes, the maid coldly replied,
“Wlpha gave the order. If you have a problem, take it up with him p>
Her tone was dismissive, showing no respect for me as the Luna.
After all, my status in the bloodmoon pack was probably worse than that of a dog!
I was an omega, yet I was the Luna of the pack. With Mark’s continuous indifference toward me, the other pack members also didn’t think highly of me.
A voice came from behind me.
“I told them to do it. What’s the problem p>
I turned to see Markglaring at me impatiently.
“Skylar is coming back. She loves rooms with plenty of sunlight. Your bedroom will be hers now. You can squeeze into the maid’s quarters p>
With that, he glanced at the shabby clothes on the floor and sneered
“After all, isn’t this the kind of life you’ve always had? It’s not like it’s unfair to you.
Mark had always looked down on my background, thinking that me becoming his Luna tarnished his Alpha blood,
When an omega became the Luna of an Alpha, everything, no matter how unfair, must be swallowed down without a word.
But now, I didn’t want to endure it anymore.
I silently picked up my father’s memorial photo, stood up, and got up to leave.
Seeing that I wasn’t heading toward the maid’s quarters, Mark frowned and grabbed my hand.
“Where are you going?
I responded indifferently.
“Since Skylar is coming back, I won’t stick around just to be an eyesore to you two. ”
Mark clicked his tongue.
“You know your place, but there’s no need to move out.
He looked up and spoke with a hint of condescension.
“Skylar said she missed the pumpkin soup you used to make the most when she was in the North. You stay here and cook for her. ”
As if remembering something, he added coldly,
By the way, don’t tell her that I ever slept with you. If she finds out, you know what will happen
As he spoke, he tightened his grip on my wrist, his eyes filled with a glimmer of threat
I could almost taste the bitterness of the railk with birth control pills again.
I nodded.
“Don’t worry, I won’t disturb you
I would never disturb them again.
Mark nodded in satisfaction and went upstairs.
A few minutes later, his beta arrived with a team of stylists. They brought the latest suits and luxury watches.
I had never seen him look so expectant and serious before. For Skylar, he was pulling out all the stops.
His shabby, defeated side was only left for me.
That night, Mark brought Skylar to the Pack house.
When she saw me dressed in a maid’s uniform, bringing over the porridge I’d made, a flash of smugness appeared in her eyes, though she apologized
“How could I trouble you to cook for me, Haley? You’re the Luna p>
Mark looked at her, his eyes filled with tenderness.
“In my heart, you are the Luna. It’s an honor for her to cook for you.
I stood there, like a statue, listening to their flirtation, about to place the porridge down when my arm was suddenly bumped.
The scalding hot pumpkin soup spilled out, burning the skin on the back of my hand red.
Before I could even cry out in pain, Mark had already shoved me aside, yelling furiously,
“Can’t you be more careful? What if you hurt Skylar p>
He carefully lifted Skylar into his arms, frowning as he knelt before the sofa, meticulously wiping the broth from her high heels.
I looked up and met Skylar’s provocative gaze.
“Mark, is Haley upset? I only casually mentioned I wanted to drink the porridge she made. I didn’t mean to treat her like a maid p>
Her innocent look immediately triggered Mark’s protective instincts. He looked back, his gaze suddenly darkening as it fell on me.
He strode over and slammed my hand onto the broken porcelain shards on the floor.
“ You actually tried to hurt Skylar? You won’t learn unless you get some punishment p>
It wasn’t until my hands were mangled from the shards that his anger finally subsided.
Seeing me still gritting my teeth, silent, Mark was momentarily stunned, his grip loosening a little.
Skylar’s voice suddenly cut through the tension.
“Mark, let’s go upstairs. Didn’t you say you prepared a gift for me p>
