Chapter 212 Moonlight After the Ruins

A massive stone hand slammed down.
Half of the small town turned into rubble in an instant.
In their perception, Viola was gone.
No one knew what method she had used, but she had escaped.
As Viola disappeared, the stone hands that had trapped the bounty hunters slowly stopped moving. Still, each one kept its fingers wide, twisted and sharp, as if trying to grab something that was no longer there.
The largest hand was the worst.
Just standing near it made people feel crushed.
The pressure lingered in the air, so heavy that it was hard to breathe.
Joanna frowned deeply.
“Joanna,” Vince said seriously, “people from Bloodmoon are very good at escaping. Especially their saints. They can link themselves to the inner space of an evil god and run incredibly fast. But whatever you do, don’t chase them. If you follow them into the Evil God’s inner space,” he added, “you might get refined and destroyed p>
Vince spoke again, but this time there was no doubt in his voice. He felt only respect for a strong fighter and a top student from the academy.
“The Evil God’s inner space?” Joanna asked. “What’s that p>
Vince explained quickly, and Joanna soon understood.
This was knowledge only Level 50+ professionals learned. Some evil gods were unimaginably huge. A few of them were so vast that their bodies were like entire universes, connected to many different dimensions.
Bloodmoon saints could link themselves to an evil god’s body and travel through it.
But that connection always came with a price.
Joanna got it now.

An Evil God was like a public charging station. It could power you up, but you had to pay.
Most of the time, the payment was attribute points, life force, or even souls.
If the Space Alliance System was humanity’s cheat code, then the cult that worshiped Evil Gods had their own cheat system too.
That system was the Evil God Trade System. It wasn’t smart or fair.
But did Viola and the others care?
No. Everything came too easily for them.
They didn’t need to clear dungeons. They didn’t need to train. They just found places where the Space Alliance had weak control, used living people as sacrifices, and got power in return.

“I won’t let them go,” Joanna said coldly.
Vince studied her expression, then asked, “Do you have a personal grudge with them p>
“Yes p>
Vince hesitated for a moment, then said, “Then let’s do this. Joanna, let’s add each other as contacts. Later, we’ll form a special hunting team. If Viola shows up anywhere, I’ll notify you right away. How does that sound p>
Vince had no personal grudge toward Viola. But once this team was formed, he would be tied to an academy top student.
In four or five years, when Joanna graduated, her future would be limitless. Being connected to her now was like grabbing a powerful lifeline.
Joanna thought for only a moment, then nodded.
“Alright, Mr. Dunn. The moment you find any trace of Viola, contact me p>
“Good,” Vince said. “Next, we still need to apply to the Space Alliance for repair work. You have healing skills. Do you want to stay and help treat the injured townspeople, or are you leaving p>
“I’ll handle it,” Joanna replied.
This town had been used as a sacrifice by Lucas and the others. Joanna wouldn’t blame herself, but she did feel sympathy.
This place was basically a wasteland town.

The dungeon at the town’s Dungeon Plaza barely produced any resources.
There wasn’t enough loot. People struggled just to eat. Their genetics were weak, their starting attributes low, and many didn’t even get their systems implanted until age eighteen.
Starting level 1 dungeons at eighteen meant it was impossible to enter a good academy or leave the planet.
Joanna had seen news reports before. On some Wasteland Star planets, disasters and human conflict caused people to lose even the chance to receive the Space Alliance System at all, and no geniuses were born there because the genetics were simply too poor.
Since she was here, Joanna didn’t mind helping. She rose into the air and activated her skill, Lunar Aegis. A silver moon appeared in the sky, and soft moonlight poured down.
After the battle ended, the surviving townspeople finally dared to come out and check what had happened. When they saw that crimson moon was gone, many of them broke down in tears.
They had lost too much. Family. Friends.
Even those who survived hadn’t escaped unscathed. Though they weren’t directly exposed to Bloodmoon’s light, their skin had still turned red. Their bodies had partially melted, and their attribute points had dropped.
Those still alive were all combat-type professionals, and none of them were weak.
The one checking the situation was the town mayor, Tom Waters.
“Age: 50, Level: 20 p>
He had come out to see if the battle was truly over. Instead, he saw a silver moon appear in the sky. His heart nearly stopped.
The crimson moon had just vanished, and now a silver one had appeared. Was this another attack?
The light fell too fast. It covered his body before he could even react.
But there was no pain. No damage. Instead, a warm healing power flowed through him.
“Ah! The alliance has sent someone to save us!” Tom shouted at the top of his lungs. “Everyone, come out! Come out and bathe in the holy light p>
