Her jawline was visible, but the mockery on her face was unmistakable.
She had no reason to play nice with Kayden.

David and Irene were furious but helpless. They didn’t dare assassinate Joanna openly in a dungeon plaza filled with professionals.
So they changed targets. They decided to eliminate her humanoid contracted companions instead.
Wave after wave came. Eight groups in total. All dead.
The losses didn’t even matter anymore. What mattered was that Joanna earned 60 million credits from it. With college coming up, she saved every bit of it and didn’t spend recklessly.

Kayden’s smile froze. So, Joanna has known all along.

Joanna tapped her professional interface and submitted the request to the Space Alliance system.
Once a contract was formed, it could not be undone. That was the rule.
In the next instant, Kayden was hit by a sharp electric shock as punishment. His body went numb, and he collapsed to the ground, unable to stop Joanna as she walked away.
