Tammie started searching for Caitlin’s other Twitter handles. Someone like Caitlin would never just delete her account and disappear-she was too much of an attention-seeker for that. She must have made a new burner account by now.
Just you wait, Tammie thought. She’ll come back claiming she missed her fans too much, and drum up a whole new wave of followers.
But after scouring the internet, Tammie came up empty. No sign of Caitlin anywhere.
She had really quit the internet.
And she’d wiped her tracks clean.

Half an hour later, the car pulled up in front of the grand gates of Gonzales Manor.

Tammie knew Gonzales Manor inside and out. It didn’t take him long to reach the garden.
Spring had fully arrived.
The city’s temperature had risen noticeably.
In the garden, daffodils, azaleas, cherry blossoms, and apple trees were all in glorious bloom.
Caitlin was strolling beneath a row of blossoming apricot trees, holding Monday’s leash.
A gentle breeze swept through.
Petals fluttered down like confetti. She reached out, caught a blush-pink blossom, then blew it softly from her palm. The moment looked like something out of a painting.
Tammie frowned. If he hadn’t already seen Caitlin’s true colors-if he didn’t know how calculating she could be-he’d almost be fooled by this picture of innocence.

Seeing Caitlin still refuse to admit it, Tammie’s anger flared. “Drop the act. You know perfectly well what happened p>

He stared at Caitlin, clearly expecting her to cave.
