Katrina had plenty of confidence in herself.
After all, she was the one who found Xavier on the beach that day. If she hadn’t rushed him to the hospital in time, he would have been dead by now. She was his savior-his one and only real savior.
Jeanette looped her arm through Katrina’s, grinning. “Katrina, I know you’re the hero here, but you should still keep an eye out. There’s so much temptation out there what if some gold-digger tries to steal Xavier away p>
“He wouldn’t dare,” Katrina replied, her eyes narrowing with a smug little glint.
Jeanette laughed. “True, he acts like a nervous kitten whenever you’re around. I wish I had your luck—just happened to save the heir to the Richards family, and now your future’s set for life. Why can’t stuff like that ever happen to me p>
Katrina gave Jeanette’s hand a friendly squeeze. “Well, meeting me is your stroke of luck. Don’t worry-after Hannah’s birthday party tomorrow night, I’ll introduce you to Xavier’s older brother. If one doesn’t work out, there’s always another- Xavier’s got a whole pack of brothers p>
“Katrina, you’re the best! You’re seriously my favorite person,” Jeanette squealed, hugging her tight.
“And hey,” Katrina added with a wink, “if you see anything you like today, just go for it. Xavier’s picking up the tab anyway p>
That sent Jeanette over the moon. She clapped her hands in delight. “Yes, please! Thanks, Katrina p>

Just then, the elevator doors slid open.
Seventh floor.
This whole level was women’s fashion.
It didn’t take long before both Jeanette and Katrina’s arms were weighed down with shopping bags—each swipe of the card courtesy of Xavier, of course.
Suddenly, Jeanette stopped in her tracks.
“What’s up?” Katrina asked, frowning in confusion.

No matter what, Caitlin was the Richards family’s granddaughter. Now wasn’t the
time to draw too much attention to themselves in front of her.
Katrina glanced up, and sure enough-there was Caitlin.
Her hair was up in a neat bun, showing off her long, graceful neck. She wore a soft pink blouse and wide legged white trousers leaning casually against the railing and doing nothing in particular, yet somehow still managing to steal the spotlight. People walking by couldn’t help but turn for a second look.
Jeanette tugged at Katrina’s arm. “Maybe we should go the other way p>
“What are you afraid of?” Katrina shot her a look. “It’s not like she’s going to bite us. Let’s go p>
Before, Caitlin’s status might have made Katrina nervous, but not anymore.
Left with no choice, Jeanette hurried to keep up.

Caitlin barely glanced at her. “Do I know you p>
Katrina crossed her arms, a self-satisfied smile on her face. “Maybe we haven’t been close, Miss Gonzales, but you’ll want to get used to me. After all, I’m going to be your sister-in-law soon p>

Caitlin’s brow furrowed ever so slightly. Was this girl delusional?
Katrina scrolled through her phone and held the screen up for Caitlin to see. “Look, here’s your brother Xavier yesterday-arms full of roses, coming to the hospital to beg for my forgiveness and ask for another chance p>
“And here’s the credit card he gave me,” Katrina added, flashing the card for emphasis.
Caitlin’s face remained unreadable as she looked at the photos.

Before Caitlin could say a word, Katrina barreled on, “Tomorrow night, I’ll be at Hannah’s birthday party too. And I’ll be wearing that Celestial Azure gown-the one used to be yours. I’ll be the star of the whole event p>
