Though she was silently cursing Keira, Ann’s expression remained perfectly composed. She looked at her grandmother and said gently, “You’re right, Grandma. Freya is our lucky star. Once Uncle wakes up, we’ll be able to find Aunt Carey p>
Her words were exactly what Keira wanted to hear.
“Ann is right,” Keira nodded. “I have a feeling we’ll find Carey soon and our family will be whole again p>
*Family reunion?* Amanda thought, a venomous look flashing in her eyes. *Even now, Keira is still dreaming her fairy tales. The only reunion they’ll have is in the afterlife p>
How pathetic.
“Mother, don’t just stand there,” Amanda said, guiding Keira to a nearby chair. “Let’s sit and chat while we wait for Stuart to wake up p>
“Alright,” Keira agreed.
Ann walked over to Caitlin, a saccharine smile on her face. “Freya, is there anything I can do to help? I don’t know anything about medicine, but I can be your assistant p>
Amanda immediately stood up and grabbed Ann’s wrist. “Ann, you don’t know what you’re doing. Don’t get in the way. You’re not helping; you’re just creating more work for Freya p>
She wouldn’t let her daughter get involved at this critical moment. Stuart was already half-dead. If Ann did something and Caitlin blamed her for his death, Ann would never be able to clear her name.
Ann caught on immediately. “You’re right, you’re right. What was I thinking? I’ll just stand over here and stay out of Freya’s way p>
She quickly moved away from Caitlin, not wanting to be framed.
Caitlin continued with the acupuncture. The minutes ticked by. Ann and Amanda kept their eyes fixed on Stuart. He remained completely still, his breathing shallow.
An hour and a half passed. Caitlin finished her treatment, removing the last golden needle from Stuart’s body.
But he hadn’t changed at all. If anything, Amanda thought he looked even worse.
Just as Ann was about to speak, Amanda shot her a warning look, and she fell silent.
Keira rose from her chair. “Freya, are you finished p>
“Yes, Grandma.” Caitlin placed the needles back in their case.
Keira looked from Stuart to Caitlin, finally unable to hold back her question. “Freya, didn’t you say your father would wake up after the treatment p>
But Stuart showed no signs of waking.
“It’s alright Grandma,” Caitlin said, taking Keira’s hand. “My father is healed now, but he’s been in bed for
a very long time. He needs a

“Alright, Freya.” Keira let out a sigh of relief. “If you say so, then I’m not worried p>
Her trust in Caitlin was absolute. If
Caitlin told her she could pluck the moon from the sky, she would

Amanda glanced at Caitlin, her eyes filled with scorn. *Still spinning lies for the old woman, even now p>
She smiled and stood up, taking Keira’s arm. “Mother, don’t worry. Let’s just sit here together and wait for him. With Freya here, what is there to be afraid of p>
Ann nodded. “Grandma, Mom’s right. With Freya here, everything will be fine.” Keira allowed Amanda to help her back to her chair.
Another two hours passed. It was now one in the afternoon. Stuart was still the
same.
Amanda looked at the clock, then at Stuart, and finally at Keira. “Mother, I think it might be a little while longer. You and Freya must be hungry Ann and I will go to the kitchen and have them bring something for us to eat p>
“It’s alright. I’m not hungry,” Keira said, shaking her head. All she wanted was to
see her son wake up. She couldn’t feel hunger.
“You have to eat something,” Amanda insisted. “Even if you’re not hungry, Freya needs to eat p>
