“Okay, thanks,” Tammie said, picking up the bowl and starting to eat.
Ann’s eyes narrowed slightly, her gaze flickering to his computer screen. “Well, Tammie, it looks like you can finally get a good night’s sleep tonight p>
“You have no idea,” he said after finishing the soup, setting the bowl down and stretching luxuriously. “I can’t remember the last time I slept through the night p>
Ann picked up the empty bowl. “Then I won’t disturb you, Tammie. Go get cleaned up and get some rest p>

Tammie was genuinely exhausted. “I think I’ll go take a shower now p>
Ann turned and left, and Tammie followed her out of the study.
Just as he finished his shower and was about to get into bed, there was a knock on his bedroom door.
“Who is it?” Tammie asked, towel-drying his hair.
Ann’s voice came from the other side. “It’s me, Tammie p>
“One second, Ann.” Tammie quickly threw on a shirt and went to open the door.
Ann stood there holding a glass of milk. “Tammie, I warmed this up for you. A glass of milk before bed helps you sleep. I hope you have a wonderful night’s rest p>
“Ann, you’re so thoughtful p>
She smiled warmly. “That’s because you’re my family.” She then added, “Drink it while it’s warm, Tammie. It gets a bit of a funny taste when it cools. I can take the glass to the kitchen when you’re done p>
“Sure,” Tammie nodded and drank the entire glass in one go.
As she watched him finish it, a faint glint appeared in Ann’s eyes.
Tammie handed the empty glass back to her. “Thanks for everything, Ann p>
“It’s what I’m here for, Tammie,” she replied with a sweet smile. “Goodnight. I’m heading to bed too p>

Tammie had been so tired lately that he fell asleep almost the instant his head hit the pillow.
An hour later, Ann stood outside his bedroom door and knocked softly. “Tammie p>

She called his name several times, but there was no response from inside.
A smirk played on her lips.
It looked like the drug had taken effect.
That’s right—she had slipped a sleeping pill into his milk. It was why she had been
so eager to take the glass and wash it immediately.
Confident that Tammie was sound asleep, Ann slipped on a pair of thin gloves and went upstairs, to the study Tammie had no reason to be suspicious of her, so the study wasn’t locked.
She walked over to his work computer. It was password-protected. Ann thought
for a moment, then tried typing in Tammie’s birthday.

Ann’s eyes narrowed. She plugged in a USB drive, opened Tammie’s
design software, and located the finalized drafts. She saved the entire folder to her USB stick, then meticulously deleted any trace of her activity before leaving the study.
It was now past one in the morning, but Ann slipped out of the house.
Asher Fletcher was waiting for her at a 24-hour coffee shop about ten miles away. Even at this hour, the place was still bustling.

When Asher pushed open the office door, he saw Mr. Banks standing by the floor- to-ceiling window.

Mr. Banks took it and immediately plugged it into his computer. As soon as he opened the folder, the finalized design drafts filled the screen.
