Ivy hit the floor. The doctors and nurses stared, dumbfounded.
They were used to emotional reactions from families, but they’d never seen anyone faint from the stress before signing a single form.

Several nurses rushed to Ivy’s side, trying to revive her, pinching the pressure point below her nose. But no matter what they did, Ivy remained completely unresponsive. There was no sign of her waking up.
“What do we do, Dr. Rossi? The family member is unconscious. We can’t proceed with the surgery.” Leo’s condition was deteriorating by the second. But without a signature, the hospital’s hands were tied. If something went wrong in the OR, the legal repercussions for both the hospital and the surgeon would be catastrophic.
Dr. Rossi rubbed his temples. “Get her to an ER bay for emergency treatment. The second she wakes up, have her sign the consent form p>
“Right away,” a nurse replied.
Ivy was lifted onto a stretcher and wheeled away, and Leo’s surgery was put on hold.
Half an hour later, Dr. Rossi entered the ER bay. “Has she woken up yet?” “Not yet,” replied Dr. Sterling, who was standing by the bed.
“Have you found anything wrong with her p>
“Nothing,” Dr. Sterling said, shaking his head. “We ran a full workup. All her vitals are perfectly normal. Out! initia assessments that she fainted from extreme emotional distress p>
Normally, someone who fainted like that would wake up with basic first aid. But Ivy remained unconscious. They had even used a defibrillator, and still, she showed no signs of surring.
Dr. Rossi sighed. “Leo’s running out of time over there. If she doesn’t wake up
soon, he’s going to miss his best chance for recovery p>
“Does the patient have any other relatives?” Dr. Sterling asked. Besides a spouse, children, parents, or siblings could also sign the consent form.

The young nurse beside her gasped in relief. “Ms. King, you’re finally awake p>
Ivy grabbed the nurse’s hand, her voice choked with fake tears. “My husband! How is he? How was the surgery p>
The nurse shook her head. “It hasn’t started yet! We need you to sign the consent form. Please, come with me, quickly p>
