Flavia felt a splitting pain in her head. She was certain she had never heard that name before, yet hearing Mabel and Waller say it now filled her with an
overwhelming urge to cry.

As she spoke, tears streamed down her face like broken pearls. She didn’t know what was happening; she couldn’t control them.
Mabel and Waller exchanged a terrified glance. What was wrong with Flavia? Was she having some kind of mental breakdown? Remembering the strict rules of the castle, they turned and fled. When they were hired, the butler had warned them repeatedly not to engage in unnecessary conversation with Flavia, or they would risk losing their jobs.
Watching them run away, Flavia felt the pain in her head intensify. A strange laugh echoed in her mind.

Who is Freya? Who?
Flavia pressed her hands to her temples, trying desperately to remember, but the effort only made the pain worse.

The sound of a baby crying pierced her thoughts.
Her face grew paler, and a cold sweat beaded on her forehead. The room began
to spin, her legs felt unsteady, and then, everything went black.

She collapsed onto the floor.
By the time the butler and other staff arrived, Flavia was unconscious, her brows furrowed in distress and tear tracks still visible on her cheeks. She was muttering something under her breath, but her voice was too faint for the butler to understand.
“Quick, get Dr. Tina,” the butler commanded as he had someone lift Flavia.
Dr. Tina arrived moments later with her medical bag, just as the Dowager Vance hurried in. The old woman stared at the unconscious Flavia, her eyes narrowing. “What happened? How did she just faint like that?” *Is she faking it? That damn bitch p>
After a thorough examination, Tina looked at the Dowager. “Dowager, she’s not in any serious danger. It seems to be a combination of malnutrition and extreme stress that caused her to faint p>
Malnutrition? Extreme stress?
The Dowager scoffed. Flavia wasn’t the only one on a vegetarian diet; she was too. If an old woman like her was fine, how could Flavia have any issues? And as for stress, that was even more ridiculous. Flavia lived a life of luxury, with fine clothes and exquisite food. She had it better than a queen. What stress could she possibly have?
“Tina,” the Dowager said, her eyes narrowed with suspicion, “are you in on this with her p>
Tina was taken aback. “Dowager, I don’t understand what you mean p>
The Dowager pointed a finger at Flavia. “Is she really malnourished p>
“Dowager, if you don’t believe me, you are welcome to take her to a hospital for a full check-up,” Tina replied calmly “I know what you’re plying but everyone’s body. different. Not everyone is suited for a vegetarian diet. Right now, the most important thing for her is to get more protein. If this continues, her health will completely collapse p>
Tina couldn’t understand why the Dowager was so insistent on the diet. A vegetarian lifestyle was meant to be an act of piety, but this felt more like an act of cruelty, Flavia was like a bird with broken wings, trapped not only physically but also denied even the freedom to eat what her body needed.
Just as the Dowager was about to retort, Flavia suddenly gasped and woke from her faint with a sharp cry. “Ah p>

Flavia immediately fell silent. Her head was still throbbing, her mind a confusing fog. Her face was ashen.
The Dowager’s eyes narrowed as she turned to the butler. “Go and fetch Dr. Shirley p>

Her gaze then shifted to Tina. “You may leave p>
Tina wanted to say more, but one look into the Dowager’s cold eyes silenced her. She was just a doctor here; the Dowager was her employer.
Not long after Tina left, Dr. Shirley arrived. She was another of the castle’s physicians, older than Tina, but also a woman. To prevent Flavia from having an affair and dishonoring Quinton’s memory, the castle staff was almost exclusively female.
