Chapter 103
“How are you feeling p>
That was the first thing Elara heard when she woke up.
She blinked her eyes innocently, unsure where she was when she took in the environment.
As she looked at the room carefully, the events before she was rendered unconscious rushed to her head, and she looked at Daniel with a mixture of guilt and sadness.
“Good,” she answered, avoiding his gaze.
Daniel, seated on the chair, who had been doing nothing other than observing her for the past two hours, postponing all his meetings after he found out a gist of what happened four years ago, leaned forward.
“Do I scare you?” He asked.
Elara shook her head softly in denial.
“Does this place do?” He asked.
Elara looked around at his question. She didn’t say anything. Her fingers clenched around the duvet, and Daniel’s eyes darkened.
It was all the answer he needed to hear.
This was more than enough for him to order his men to demolish the property entirely and build it from scratch. He didn’t want her to be afraid of anything around him, but he didn’t want her to live in fear at the same time.
“Look at me when I am talking,” Daniel said.
Elara lifted her gaze softly and looked up at him.
“Every single soul on this earth who ever tormented you will die a pitiful death, and you’ll witness it. It’s a promise I intend to keep, Elara. You are not just my wife. You are my unhealthy obsession,” Daniel took a deep breath before he stood from his chair.
He walked to the edge of her bed and sat beside her.
“This word might hurt you, bring back bad memories, but I am ready to prove to you how healthy someone’s obsession can be. I don’t know how to explain these feelings to you. The fact that you suffered so much without me fills me with so much hatred that—” Daniel stopped speaking when the girl leaned into him.
She didn’t just lean. She practically placed her head on his chest, hugging him from the side, the action alone making his heart skip a beat.
“What are you doing?” He asked, unsure.
“Calming you,” she whispered.
“Though your technique of calming differs greatly from mine,” She looked up.
Daniel’s ears turned red when he realised what she was talking about, and he coughed.
“About that p>
“I don’t blame you. You only meant well. You didn’t know,” Elara said.
Daniel sighed. There was no point in explaining, because he would be lying if he said he wouldn’t do anything like that again if something like that happened.
“George told me you still get nightmares,” Daniel said.
“Sometimes,” she said.
“And with me?” He asked.
“Well Elara blushed, remembering that night when they both had slept on the carpet of her living room.
She had found herself nuzzled in his arms when she woke up.
“I don’t—” she started, but before she could complete her sentence, the man interrupted her.
“You’ll be sleeping with me in that case,” He said.
Elara quickly sat straight, looking at him as if he had grown two heads.
“What are you talking about? I am still married to someone else, Mr. Daniel. Do you want people to call me a woman with bad character?” She asked.
Daniel looked into her eyes for a few seconds.
The fact that she was worried about what people would say and not about sleeping with him was a significant leap in his courting.
The thought made his heart warm, and rather than pushing her buttons around, he simply nodded.
“Your phone has been ringing for some time,” Daniel said, and Elara turned to the nightstand where her phone was.
She grabbed it while Daniel stood to go and instruct the butler to cook something healthy for her.
He was about to leave when he saw the smile on her face and stopped.
“Something good happened?” He asked casually.
Elara grinned sheepishly before showing him what she was looking at.
Daniel walked to her and looked at the video of Sean barking like a dog, and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Have your fun with him, sweetheart. Once you are done, let me know. We have some scores to settle.” Daniel leaned forward and pecked the corner of her lips before leaving the room, the simple action taking Elara’s breath away.
She exhaled sharply as soon as he left, releasing the breath she didn’t know she was holding when he came so close to her.
“Good work,” she messaged Justin before checking the entertainment forum to see if there was any news about her name being made public as the lead singer in the drama.
But when she didn’t see any, she pouted before closing her phone.
She tossed the device away and stood from the bed to look around, trying to fight and push back the demons that had been hurting her for so many years.
Maybe she was mistaken. How could this be the same mansion as the one she was kidnapped into? The similarities were there, but so were the differences. Maybe most mansions looked the same from the inside.
It’s okay. I’ll change everything once I become his woman. The thought flashed through her mind, freezing her for a second as she realized how easily her mind and heart were starting to accept the man, leaving her unable to understand when it began.
At the same time, in Lloyd’s house, Carla hurled the contract document across the hall.
“I am not accepting it! You want me to act as a subordinate to Elara, brother? How could you? You are the prime investor. You should’ve had that kind of influence,” Carla retorted, looking at her mom pleadingly.
Sophia looked between her daughter and her son, feeling conflicted. While she didn’t want her daughter to feel betrayed, she could see her son wasn’t in a good position either.
Then again, though Carla was bratty, if not him, who would take care of her demands? He was her brother, for heaven’s sake.
Andrew pinched the area between his brows.
“It’s because I am the prime investor; you even got this role. Don’t push it, Carla. Everything was broadcast live. Do you think people will accept you now? What about your reputation? It’s already ruined; don’t worsen it,” Andrew tried to reason with her.
Carla shook her head. It was better she didn’t get any role in the drama at all than act as a subordinate to that bitch Elara, who was beneath her.
“It might hurt you, brother, but the truth is that you couldn’t keep your bitch in control. That’s the reason the girl who used to love you madly is now openly divorcing you. And it angers you because you have lost control. But I haven’t. I won’t accept this arrangement,” Carla said before she went straight to her room and slammed the door loudly.
The sound made Andrew close his eyes, barely containing his frustration.
