Chapter 17

Andrew sat on the couch lazily. Though he was with his friends, his mind was elsewhere, occupied by the woman who had never taken over his thoughts like that before.

“Andrew, are you seriously going to let your wife get away with humiliating you in public?” Sean asked.

“Don’t say such things, Sean. You know how some women get. She was probably just jealous of my presence at the arena and wanted to get even with Andrew. That’s why she played that trick to catch his attention.” Beatrice blinked her eyes innocently.

Sean scoffed at her choice of words.

“You have a big heart, Beatrice. You can’t see the evil in anyone. Not everyone is big-hearted like you. Elara is nothing like how you portray her. At first, I thought she was just a jealous wife, but she is something else. She really enjoys men looking at her p>

Sean mocked Elara’s character, while Andrew, who was still lost in his thoughts, was haunted by the image of Elara’s cold eyes looking down at him with detachment.

“That’s enough. We are here to enjoy, not to mock anyone,” Trevor said, massaging his forehead.

Sean looked at his friend and felt he was being wronged since none of his friends were backing his thoughts.

“You stay out of it. You never back me up anyway,” Sean pouted.

Trevor lit his cigar before looking at the almost naked woman around Sean. His gaze drifted to Beatrice, whose gaze was drifting to Andrew repetitively.

And then she says she has no feelings for him. Trevor scoffed in his head.

“If she had bothered him that much, he would’ve divorced her. The fact that they are still together means things are going okay-ish. Don’t try to sow discord,” Trevor commented before he took a sip of his soda right after taking a whiff of the smoke.

Sean raised his brows at his friend’s comment.

“You know what? You are right. I don’t understand this either. Why aren’t you divorcing that bitch, Andrew? You and Beatrice are very well suited together. Didn’t you see how she likes being around men? Wasn’t this incident eye-opening enough? She was so happy in another man’s arms that I wonder if they went out to sleep p>

“Sean! Watch your mouth. That is my wife you are talking about! I don’t think you have the right to talk about her character when you are sleeping with a new whore every night.” Andrew stood from his seat, his gaze dark and unyielding.

Trevor moved his lazy gaze to Andrew, raising his brows.

His outburst was definitely interesting. After all, this was the first time he had ever taken Elara’s side before their friends.

“Andrew—you… Are you seriously comparing that worthless bitch to me? Your childhood friend?” Sean looked at Andrew, flabbergasted.

Beatrice quickly stood up between the two.

“Hey, chill out. Sean, you indeed went out of line this time. There’s nothing between me and Andrew. Your words will be taken wrongly and portray me as a homewrecker. You know that, right?” Beatrice held Sean’s hand and massaged his knuckles comfortingly before she turned to Andrew.

“Hey, I know you are angry about how things turned out. Sean is always joking around. Let’s not take it to heart,” she said, rubbing her fingers up and down his sleeves to calm him.

“I don’t have the mood to stay. I am leaving. Do you want to come?” Andrew asked, and Beatrice gave Sean a comforting look before she nodded at Andrew.

“Trevor,” Andrew nodded at Trevor, who nodded in return, a smirk forming on his lips as he saw Beatrice cunningly gaining the favor of both men by playing the peacemaker.

He shook his head. As a woman, Elara’s intuition about the two was probably right before anyone noticed it.

He still remembered how Elara had nearly broken the glass in her hand when Andrew had introduced Beatrice to her as his secretary.

She probably knew from the very first glance that things were going to fall apart because of this woman.

Trevor shook his head and leaned back, enjoying his cigar and alcohol.

Sean, left alone with no one attending to him, got busy making out with the strippers around him who were waiting for him to throw money at them.

Once inside the car, Beatrice looked at Andrew.

“It’s good that you care so much about your wife. It’s really worthy of envy. I don’t know what Elara is so jealous and insecure about when she got such a marvelous husband like you, someone every girl would love to marry,” Beatrice said, her voice growing quieter with each sentence.

Andrew looked at her briefly before concentrating on the road.

“Elara isn’t insecure about anything. She just gets needy from time to time. It’s understandable, though. I barely give her any time,” Andrew said.

Beatrice smiled forcefully before looking outside.

She pulled out her phone, her brows furrowing when she saw Candice’s number.

“Can I talk to you? Elara isn’t picking up my call, and I urgently need someone’s help with my lyrics. You can come to our house.” Candice’s words made Beatrice raise her brows.

“Did something happen between Elara and Candice?” She asked Andrew.

Andrew narrowed his eyes.

“What do you mean?” He asked.

Beatrice told him about Candice inviting her over, and Andrew couldn’t help but sigh.

“She doesn’t know you are injured and need rest. It’s okay. I’ll deliver the message. I have to go to the family house anyway. Mom said something about preparations regarding my grandfather’s upcoming birthday. Andrew waved his hand.

Beatrice’s eyes lit up at the words. Grandfather’s upcoming birthday? The old man was the one who had disapproved of her marriage to Andrew.

What if she uses this opportunity to enter the family house? Earlier, Elara used to cater to all their wishes; they never asked for anyone’s help, but now that Elara was throwing a tantrum, she could use this to her benefit.

Beatrice wondered before plastering a sweet smile.

“It’s okay. I can tag along. It’s much better anyway. Besides, I will start shooting for that drama in a couple of days and will get busy. It’s been a long time since I met Aunt Sophia,” Beatrice said.

Andrew hummed vaguely, taking a turn towards the highway rather than going home.
