Late that night, Cassian returned to his bedroom alone.

It was empty and cold.
The dull ache radiating from his shoulder served as a hours ago.

She stopped at the counter and nonchalantly purchased two boxes of condoms.
As the cashier bagged them, Samantha made sure the rustle of the plastic was loud enough for Trista to
hear.
When Trista reached the pharmacy exit, Samantha caught up and pulled a box of emergency contraceptives from the bag, holding it out to Trista.
She wore a look of perfectly calibrated shyness, her voice a whisper. “Since you and Cassian haven’t seen each other in so long, you might need this p>
Trista’s gaze slowly traveled from the box up to Samantha’s eyes.
This wasn’t concern; it was a provocation. It was a malicious reminder that her mate was elsewhere, and her position was being trampled by another she–wolf.
The next second, the corner of Trista’s mouth twitched, and she delivered a stinging slap.

The sharp sound echoed, and everything in Samantha’s hands hit the ground.
The plastic boxes clattered against the stone tiles, skittering away like a series of harsh taunts.
Trista didn’t look down at the items.
She simply stood there, her spine rigid as a bared blade.
Her powerful alpha bloodline surged, no longer restrained.
Her aura expanded silently, a cold tide rising from her feet, tightening the air in the vicinity.
The crowd near the pharmacy entrance instinctively retreated, their breathing shallow.

She didn’t dare speak out; she could only clutch her face and swallow the humiliation.

She pivoted instantly, her voice softening as she put the mask back on. “Ms. Holmes, I was only trying to be helpful. After all, since I returned, Cassian spends most of his time with me. It’s understandable if he seeks intimacy with you after so long. I wouldn’t be jealous p>
As Trista turned to leave, Samantha threw one last jab, her words coated in honey. “Cassian promised me he would never let you carry his child. That’s why I thought I’d bring you a box, thinking you’d need it p>

She spoke softly and slowly, letting every word land like a nail, “He did have me pinned to the bed last night, but he didn’t use those. I urged him to finish the termination quickly so he could give you and the pup a formal position, but he refused p>
She paused, delivering the final blow. “Maybe you should whisper in his ear a bit more? Get him to agree to the termination so you can finally stand where I am p>
