This time, he didn’t hold back. His aura as an ancient Alpha descended, forcing every non–Alpha in the room to tense up instinctively.
“Ironthorn was built on the blood of generations,” Howard barked, his voice ice–cold. “You are the current Alpha. You cannot afford to be the center of this kind of scandal! If you can’t get this chaos under control and terminate that bond before the Council meets, don’t blame me when I start playing dirty with Silverlight members p>
Cassian, Alaina, and Wynn all stood up at once.
Wynn’s voice turned shrill with panic. “Grandpa, Ulva and Randolph are family. They haven’t done anything wrong! You can’t touch them p>
Alaina stepped forward as well, her posture taut. “Regardless of everything, Trista is the mate Cassian chose. You should at least respect his position p>
Howard’s aura dropped even lower, suffocating the air. “This is not your place to speak p>
Cassian’s eyes darkened, a slow fracture appearing deep within his pupils.

With an omega supporting him, Howard slowly got to his feet.
Two generations of Alphas stood face–to–face, their pheromones no longer hidden. It was a head–on collision of raw power and seasoned ruthlessness. The air crackled with a faint, distorted electrical charge, making it hard for anyone else to even breathe.
After a few seconds of silence, Howard hammered out each word like an iron nail into the floor.

Cassian’s hands, hanging at his sides, balled into fists so tight his knuckles turned white.
He didn’t fire back, but his out–of–control wolf aura made his stance crystal clear.
Howard’s tone offered no room for negotiation. “You clean this mess up before the Council hearing begins. No loose ends. Otherwise, I guarantee you’ll be the one living with the regret p>
The two Alphas locked eyes for a long, silent beat, their auras clashing invisibly.

Only a single wall lamp was on in the bedroom, casting a dim, low light.

Cassian was wrapped in a dark robe, the belt tied loosely. The lapels hung open, revealing the hard lines of his abs in the shadows as he moved.
He stood by the wall, a glass of liquor in his hand, his gaze lingering on the wedding portrait inch by inch.
In the photo, Trista was in her white gown, leaning against him with a bright, radiant smile.
His body was tilted slightly toward her, a subconscious protective instinct he’d tried to temper for the
camera.
On the bed, his phone was on speaker. Fred’s voice came through, unusually grave. “Cassian, you know how Howard plays. If he decides to go after Silverlight, you can’t stop him. The call ended, leaving the room in a suffocating silence.
Cassian stood there for a long time, staring at the photo.

The next morning, Trista received a call from Humphrey.
