Chapter 215

Trista’s POV

I gave Samantha a dead–eyed look and completely ignored Madison’s bait.

Honestly, getting into it with a basic bitch who doesn’t even understand the social food chain is a total waste of my life.

I finished drying my hands and walked straight out of the restroom.

Samantha made some lame excuse to ditch Madison and came jogging after me.

Once she was sure we were out of range of any eavesdropping wolf ears, she finally let it rip. “Trista, are you for real? Are you actually gonna dump Cassian? Are you really gonna help my kid and me get our foot in the door p>

I’d had a few stiff drinks, so my head was a little buzzy, but my mind was sharp as a tack.

I stared into Samantha’s shifty, calculating eyes for a beat and gave her a slow, confident smirk. “Bank on it p>

Samantha looked like hell, her face tight with suspicion. “Okay, so what’s the play? How are you actually gonna help me p>

That caught me off guard.

I hesitated, rubbing my temples which were starting to throb from the tequila. “Don’t get ahead of yourself,” I said, trying to stall. “We need to wait for the perfect window p>

Samantha wasn’t having it. She took a predatory step toward me, her voice dropping to a low, testing hum. “Trista, don’t give me that ‘wait for it‘ bullshit p>

She leaned in, a nasty little gleam in her eyes. “Cassian came by my place yesterday afternoon. He wanted to stay the night–said he wanted to ‘make it up to me. It took everything I had to talk him into going home. Look, I’m trying to play nice with you, Luna Trista, but if you’re getting cold feet about the divorce, I’m totally fine with keeping things just the way they are p>

I looked at her and felt a wave of pure irony hit me.

Unbelievable. So yesterday afternoon, the second Cassian dropped me off at my parents‘ place, he hauled ass over to Samantha’s apartment. And yet, he had the nerve to pull that “devoted husband” act at the hospital entrance this morning. Give the man an Oscar already.

Suddenly, Isaiah, the human headache, popped out of nowhere. “Trista, why are you still wasting breath on this clout–chasing rogue p>

That one comment made Samantha’s “classy” mask crumble instantly.

I shot Isaiah a look before turning back to Samantha. “If I gave you my word, I’m following through. I’m not backing out p>

The panic in her eyes finally dialed down a notch.

She tried to pull her fake–sophisticated act back together and nodded. “Fine. I’ll take your word for it. For

now p>

I watched her scurry away and felt a chill of indifference.

Samantha has the ego but none of the guts; she’d never actually stand up to Cassian.

And Cassian? He’s too cold and calculated to ever let himself lose the upper hand.

If this plan was ever going to work, I was going to have to be the villain in this story.

I brushed Isaiah’s hand off my shoulder. His Alpha scent was way too aggressive for my liking. “Isaiah, are you actually gonna show up at the center tomorrow morning? Don’t be late p>

Isaiah cleared his throat and gave me that annoying, trademark smirk. “I’ll be there. But first, you gotta check out my new place. I’m worried the layout is messing with my ‘Zen‘ or whatever, and it’s tanking my mental stability p>

I rolled my eyes. “I’m a healer, not your interior designer p>

He didn’t listen–he just grabbed my wrist and started pulling. “Doesn’t matter. As long as you can make me sleep, you can call yourself whatever you want p>

“Isaiah! Stop! I’m here with my team, let me at least say goodbye p>

I struggled the whole way, but he used that brute strength to drag me out of the hotel.

He tossed me into his modded–out supercar and gunned it. I barely had time to call Zander and explain that I’d been “kidnapped” by a high–maintenance patient.

The car roared into the Blue Bay district and screeched to a halt right in front of the building where I live with Cassian.

I climbed out, staring at the front door in total disbelief. “Isaiah, are you serious? I haven’t even signed the divorce papers yet, and you bought a place in my building? You’re insane p>

“If I were sane, would I need a healer?” He dragged me into the elevator and slammed the button for the 11th floor.

He shoved the door open like a pup showing off his first kill. “Just closed on it. Cash. Surprised p>

I caught myself scowling. “Surprised” was an understatement.

Cassian and I were on the 9th, Fred were on the 13th, and now this psycho had claimed the 11th.

The Alpha pheromones in this building were about to become a toxic soup.

Isaiah pointed to a suite right next to the master bedroom. “See? That’s your room. Next time you need to make a break for it, just come here. It’s so close your mate won’t even have time to blink before you’re gone p>

That’s when it hit me–Cassian.

In all the chaos of being hauled away by Isaiah, I forgot to tell him I was leaving.

I pulled out my phone and called him. It rang for ten seconds with no answer, so I just shot him a text saying I was handling a “patient emergency,

As a pro, I knew the environment was 90% of a wolf’s sleep quality.

Since I was already here, I figured I’d fix his mess of a layout.

When I saw he’d turned the lounge into a high–octane gaming den, I didn’t even hesitate–I yanked the master power cord right out of the wall.

Isaiah lunged to stop me, but I shut him down with one icy glare. “If you want me to fix your damn insomnia, this ‘electronic dead zone‘ needs to stay far away from where you sleep. Got it p>

Right then, my phone started buzzing.

I reached for it, but Isaiah beat me to it. He snatched it up, hit accept, and let out a totally casual, “Yo,” into the receiver.

On the other end, Cassian’s voice came through–cold, lethal, and dripping with that “don’t–fuck–with–me” aura. “Who the hell is this p>

Isaiah didn’t even flinch. He just leaned back, a smirk on his face. “You’ve got quite the attitude, buddy. Who am I? Who the hell are you p>
