Samantha was the first to pick up my scent. Her ears twitched nervously–a dead giveaway of her guilt – and she quickly let go of Cassian’s arm.
Cassian spun around on instinct. The second our eyes met, he shoved Samantha away like she was radioactive.
“Trista,” he said, lunging toward me. His heavy pine scent hit me instantly.
He reached for my hand, but my senses caught the “pollution” on him first.
