As soon as the words left her mouth, two guards stepped forward and pinned the pair down. They roughly yanked a tuft of hair from Algernon’s head–a sample for a secondary bloodline sensing.
The boy burst into tears, kicking and biting at the guards. “My daddy is Ironthorn’s Alpha! He’s going to rip you all to pieces p>
Samantha panicked. She slammed her hand over her son’s mouth, trying to snatch the sample back.
Alaina delivered a stinging blow that sent Samantha staggering back.
“I let you stay here out of respect for the Ironthorn bloodline,” Alaina said, looking down at her with pure ice in her eyes.
“But since this brat doesn’t have a single drop of Ironthorn DNA, I’m officially out of mercy p>
Samantha refused to back down. “Someone is lying! How could Algernon not be Cassian’s? Call him here. right now–our bond doesn’t lie p>
She was screaming, but her voice was shaking.

“I know you’re broke, so I’ve already contacted your family. Your bags and jewelry will be seized to cover part of the debt. The rest? Your brother can handle it p>

Alaina signaled the guards to clear the place and walked out.
Half an hour later, Samantha had been stripped of everything of value.
She looked at her phone–dozens of missed calls from her mother and brother–and smashed the device in a fit of rage.
Hearing the boy crying behind her, Samantha’s temper finally boiled over.
She dragged him into the bathroom, pinned him against the toilet by his neck, and began bruising his skin. with her grip.
“Mommy, stop! I’ll be good…” the boy begged.
Samantha’s eyes were bloodshot and full of malice. “You useless brat! All this time and you couldn’t even keep that Alpha wrapped around your finger? What good are you? She was convinced she’d fallen into Alaina’s trap.
Following Alaina’s “advice” to play the victim had backfired, leaving her reputation in tatters for a month.
Her apartment had been vandalized, her car smashed, and low–tier wolves had been hounding her at the school gates.
Even her mother had been caught in the crossfire, breaking a leg and hiding away in shame.
This move had pushed her entire family to the edge.
Samantha stared at her haggard face in the mirror, her hatred festering. She wasn’t going to let this go.

Algernon’s sobbing lasted well into the night until Samantha finally had enough.
She swallowed her pride and called Madison, then hurried out into the night with the boy.
