Cassian was already on the verge of collapsing; the blow sent him stumbling, nearly crashing to the floor.
He managed to steady himself, still standing like a shield in front of Trista. He ground his teeth and growled, “Dad, if you still want me as a son, take your people and get the hell out of this house. Now p>
Wilmot looked at his son’s deathly pale face, his expression a mix of fury and genuine shock.
He shot a lethal glare at Isaiah and Attwater, dropping a bloody threat: “You two better watch your backs. We’re settling this debt sooner than you think p>
Fred saw his opening and quickly started ushering Howard toward the door.
As Howard passed Trista, he stopped, his eyes full of venom. “I’m going to remember this humiliation. Think about my offer, girl. Don’t make me get nasty p>
Trista watched them leave, her palms slick with cold sweat.
She knew exactly who Howard was – an old wolf who worshipped power–and Wilmot was a straight–up
narcissist.
If Cassian hadn’t put his life on the line to stand in their way, those Ironthorn bastards never would have backed down.
But being the “bigger person” had only gotten her bullied. She was done playing nice.

Ulva’s emotions finally boiled over. She ran forward, sobbing, and shoved Cassian away from her daughter.
He stumbled back, his spine hitting the wall with a heavy thud and a muffled groan of pain.
“Mr. Simmons!” Ulva cried, pointing a finger at him. “Silverlight might be down on its luck, but didn’t we treat you right? We loved you like our own son! My daughter mated with you the second she graduated, she gave you everything! And what did you do? You ignored her, you watched people bully her—is this how you pay us back p>

Cassian’s eyes were bloodshot, his voice a dry rasp. “Mom… I’m so sorry p>

Fred rushed to support Cassian, realizing the Alpha was shaking violently from the physical pain and the emotional blow.

Cassian stared at Trista, searching for even a hint of hesitation in her eyes, but she just coldly looked away.
