Once Edwin stormed out, Thomasina collapsed onto her hospital bed, trembling.

Angela, who had been lurking in the corner, scurried over and lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “Look, Samantha got exactly what was coming to her. She tried to use that kid with the questionable bloodline to climb the social ladder, but Cassian wouldn’t even touch her. I told her to take the money and run, but she wouldn’t listen. Ending up in his crosshairs was just her fate. Our family is banking everything on the heir in your womb now. Cassian is ruthless–we literally cannot afford to take any more risks p>
Thomasina nodded frantically, still shaken. “You’re right. Angela, get rid of those thugs we hired yesterday. Pay them off and tell them to disappear. And that stash of illegal meds in the apartment? Flush it. Now. I can’t help Samantha anymore–I have to look out for my Luna title p>
Self–preservation kicked in. The second these women realized Cassian was coming for Blackthorn’s throat, they shut down their schemes instantly.
However, Cassian’s real trouble was just beginning.
Around noon, his office doors were slammed open with enough force to crack the doorframe.
Wilmot charged in, his roar vibrating through the room. “Rescind that order right now! Reinstate every single contract with Blackthorn p>
Cassian stood up slowly, calmly adjusting his cuffs. “Father, please don’t interfere with my executive decisions in my own office p>
The two Alphas squared off across the desk, their auras colliding with enough pressure to make the air hum.
Wilmot pointed a shaking finger at his son’s face. “You’re throwing away the entire family’s interests for a personal vendetta? Over a woman who isn’t even part of this pack anymore? Do you think the Council is just for show? You’re making Ironthorn look unstable to every partner we have p>
He slammed a stack of reports onto the desk in front of Cassian.
Cassian didn’t flinch. His gaze was sub–zero. “The order is out. The partnership is dead. If the Council thinks I’m unfit, they can try to impeach me–then they can go crawl back to Blackthorn and beg for scraps p>
Wilmot looked like he was about to have a stroke, his chest heaving with rage.
Fortunately, Alaina rushed in, stepping between the two men before their auras could trigger a physical fight.
“Cassian,” Alaina said, her voice laced with worry for the son she used to be so proud of. “You’re always the rational one. You never make a deal where both sides lose. Are you sure you won’t reconsider the Blackthorn situation p>

“Don’t worry about it, Mom,” Cassian said, his voice flat but absolute. “Ending that partnership was already on my roadmap. I vetted a replacement company last week to take over their share. I’ll personally make up for any losses Ironthorn takes p>
Hearing that his son already had a backup plan took some of the wind out of Wilmot’s sails, but he still couldn’t help digging the knife in. “Did you miss the part at the station where she walked away with Elias right in front of your face p>
Wilmot let out a harsh snort, rubbing salt in the wound. “I told you to handle Samantha years ago and get an heir, but you wouldn’t listen. Now, you could hand Trista the entire Ironthorns on a silver platter and she still wouldn’t come back to you. Give it up already p>
Alaina saw Cassian’s face go ghost–white, the agony in his eyes becoming unbearable. She quickly ushered her husband out of the office before things got worse.
Once they were gone, the room fell into a graveyard silence.
Cassian’s shoulders slumped, his hands bracing against the desk as if his legs were about to give out.
“Get the meds,” he rasped, his voice barely a whisper.
Humphrey sighed internally. Wilmot really knew how to go for the jugular, even with his own son.
He hurried to the lounge area and grabbed a white pill bottle from a hidden compartment under the coffee table.
Cassian snatched the bottle, twisted the cap off, and tossed back several painkillers dry.
‘Get out,” he ordered.
He slumped back into his chair and closed his eyes, waiting for the drugs to numb the neurological pain hat felt like it was tearing him apart.
2:00 PM. Blade Pack Healing Center.
Rowena intercepted Mrs. Porter and Madison right at the elevator bank.
gnoring their confusion, she claimed it was an emergency and forced her mother into a small, secluded park behind the building.
Madison, sensing something was up, quietly tailed them.
Once they were away from the crowd, Rowena stopped.
‘Why aren’t you at Tundra handling business?” Mrs. Porter complained. “What are you doing here p>
‘What are you doing here?” Rowena countered coldly.
Mrs. Porter lowered her voice, her expression turning vicious. “Thomasina and I have a plan. We’re going to make sure Trista isn’t just kicked out of Blade, but that her reputation is trashed across all of L.A. Once the videos of her with those thugs hit the net, Cassian won’t even dream of getting back together with her.
Rowena took a deep breath, her tone sharper than it had ever been. “Mom, you need to stop. Right now. ”
