Samantha lowered her head, avoiding Alaina’s gaze.
She knew her position was unstable–Trista’s mating bond hadn’t been terminated, she was still the Luna.
Every expenditure Samantha made could be traced as “boundary violation,” and, severely, could be used against her by the Council.
Alaina raised her hand to signal the guards.
The pack escorts immediately positioned themselves, starting a formal inventory with ruthless efficiency.
Alaina gave Samantha an undisguised look of coldness. “Ms. Fernandez, out of consideration for Algernon, I give you thirty minutes. Pack your bags and move out p>

In the Ironthorn hierarchy, Samantha had no roster status, no crest, and no legitimate witnesses.
Pushing back would only lead to a more humiliating exit.
She fought back her emotions, leading Algernon back into the room to pack.
Half an hour later, Samantha emerged, pulling a suitcase, but the escorts stopped her.
One escort bent down, opening the suitcase to check the contents item by item. Another walked up to Samantha, his voice flat and cold. “Ms. Fernandez, please hand over your shoulder bag p>
Samantha instinctively looked at Alaina.
The look received no acknowledgement, not even a glance.
She stiffened and placed the designer bag aside.
The escort produced a black storage sack and, in front of her, emptied the contents of the bag piece by piece–makeup, loose personal items, all mixed together without separation.
He then tied the bag shut and handed it back to her.
The plastic crinkled faintly in her palm.
Samantha bit her lip, accepting the ridiculously light bag, which felt like it contained her entire self–respect.

The suitcase check finished. The escort closed the case and pushed it back to her.

Her eyes red, she looked up at Alaina, her voice a barely audible tremor. “Madam Simmons… may we leave now? ”
Alaina was placing a small potted plant back on the windowsill.
Hearing the question, she turned and walked calmly toward Samantha.
Her eyes settled on the black bag in Samantha’s hand. Her voice was unhurried but unmistakably sharp. “Smart people know that changing your circle means changing your life track p>

Samantha stood paralyzed, staring at the straight, cold back.

At Cassian and Trista’s house, lights were blazing in the master bedroom and the study upstairs.
