Inside, the cave bore obvious marks of excavation. Roughly cut stone and rubble littered the ground, evidence of previous digging.

Lillian accepted it and examined it casually. She had already seen enough on the way in. With spiritual energy constantly flowing into her body, seeing through the stone’s surface was effortless.
There was jade in the mine, but all of poor quality, nothing of real worth. What caught her attention, though, was the unusually rich spiritual energy saturating the cave. That meant one thing — somewhere nearby, a vein of top-grade ivory lay hidden.

She set the stone down, then crouched and brushed her fingers across the loose soil on the ground, then along the cave walls. Finally, she checked another spot.
So that explained the density of spiritual energy the top-grade vein lay deeper inside. No wonder they hadn’t reached it yet. A rare ivory vein like this was worth a fortuine. The only question was, how could she extract it without drawing suspicion?
Straightening, she said with perfect seriousness, “Keep digging. It’s here. Once you go deeper, you’ll be able to confirm the grade.” She delivered the lie so convincingly that no one would have guessed.
Richard’s eyes lit with excitement. “You’re certain there’s ivory?” If this vein truly contained it, he would no longer have to bow to the old families.
