Natalie was still in class, so Lillian found a bench under a tree and sat down to wait. She had only attended this school for less than a year, yet it still felt incredibly familiar.
“Lillian.” A voice suddenly called out.
Turning her head, she saw him approaching. Handsome features, a beige turtleneck sweater, black jacket, black trousers, casual shoes. The silver watch on his wrist reflected a cold light under the sun.
“Jeremy, long time no see.” Lillian smiled in greeting.
Jeremy looked at the girl lounging under the tree’s shade. She had returned-more stunning than ever. Two years ago, there had been endless rumors about her. Some said she’d gone missing, others said she was gravely ill, and still others whispered she had died.
The school had responded then, saying Lillian had taken a leave of absence. That had only fueled speculation, and he had thought he might never see her again. Then came the news that she had appeared in Solara. And now, with the girl right before his eyes, the reality struck him deeply.
“Yes, it’s been a long time. What brings you back to school today?” Jeremy asked softly.
“Re-enrollment paperwork,” Lillian said helplessly. “I’ve been gone nearly two years. Thought I’d also visit Natalie and the others. And you-I heard you went to Kingston University p>
Jeremy sat on the other end of the bench, his smile tinged with bitterness. “Yes, Kingston. My family background doesn’t allow me the freedom to live as I please. Still, Kingston has its conveniences. At least it makes coming back easier p>
“Kingston isn’t bad. Sometimes when you can’t change your circumstances, the best thing is to make the most of what you have. You’ll find that’s often the best arrangement.” Lillian’s gaze turned distant as she spoke, though her words were as much for herself as for him.
Jeremy exhaled quietly. “Mm, I’ll keep that in mind. If you come to Kingston, come find me p>
Lillian smiled. “Of course. I’ll be counting on you to look after me p>
By the time their conversation was winding down, Natalie’s class had finally let out.

Lillian took a small vial from her bag and handed it to him. “Give this to Mr. Jeremy for me. I’ll visit him when I have time p>
Jeremy accepted the vial, his eyes soft on her. “Alright. I’ll pass it on p>
After bidding each other goodbye, Lillian walked toward Natalie.
