Once inside, she started examining the pill Geo had given her.
Sunny and Blue hovered around her, circling excitedly.
Lillian pulled out the pill and held it to her nose, inhaling deeply. She knew this scent-she’d smelled it before. That strange, metallic tang, almost like blood; she’d picked it up on that old
man.
Blue mimicked her, leaning in to take a whiff. “There’s a strong scent of Ms. Karina in here p>
Beauty’s blood? Lillian blinked, startled.
“It’s taken straight from a woman’s heart-literally. And not just any woman. She has to be untouched, and born under the unluckiest timing imaginable p>
“Then,” Blue continued slowly, “she’s fed with a hidden kind of poison for forty-nine days. At the moment before death, the blood from her heart is drawn out p>
A chill ran down Lillian’s spine as she listened; she hadn’t thought the world could harbor something so vicious. “And if someone consumes it? What happens to them p>
Blue’s tone turned grave. “Simply put, her blood is laced with a parasitic toxin. Once someone ingests it, their mental strength skyrockets, their pain receptors shut down, and nothing hurts them-no matter what you do.
But the longer it festers, the more it strips away every trace of emotion, until they’re nothing but a perfect killing machine. There was once an emperor who built his shadow army this way p>
Lillian’s expression darkened. “Is there any way to counter it?” If Radovia really had a force like this, Dracovia was staring down a terrifying threat.
“There is,” Blue said. “Find the original host carrying the primary strain and eliminate it. Once that host dies, the toxin in the others will rip through their systems-but it’ll kill them instantly p>
Lillian’s brows furrowed. If Radovia ever unleashed this on Dracovia-or worse, the world-the consequences would be devastating.
It wasn’t until the morning of the first day of school that Lillian finally stepped out of her
space.

She rose early, walking lazily toward the school.

Riverdale High’s entrance was still lined with luxury cars, just as she remembered.
It had been nearly two years since she’d last attended classes, and plenty of unfamiliar faces filled the campus. But Lillian’s beauty, sharp and effortless, still drew attention like a magnet.
“Who’s that girl? What class is she in? I’ve never seen her before p>
“Yeah, me neither. But she’s even prettier than Eda p>
“She looks about our age… think she’s a transfer p>
As the younger students whispered among themselves, a bespectacled boy, neat and serious- looking, passed by and spoke up casually, “Her name’s Lillian. She used to be Riverdale High’s school flower, the top scorer in the entrance exams; she’s never ranked second in her life.
Oh, and she once released a song that went viral. But then she disappeared. You guys are lucky, you’re getting to see her in person.” He went right back to his book and kept walking toward the classrooms.
The younger students were left standing there, stunned.
Then one of them let out a sharp gasp. “Wait, I know her. She was the girl who went crazy-viral online. Lillian p>
Lillian walked straight into the senior classroom. It was still her old class, familiar down to every corner; but because she’d been gone for a year, her entrance didn’t go unnoticed.
Natalie spotted her and lit up instantly. “Lillian! You’re finally here. I was so worried you wouldn’t come back p>
Lillian smiled as she set her backpack down, teasing, “What, you missed me that much p>
“Of course I did. If you hadn’t come back, my life here would be unbearable.” Natalie plopped down in the seat next to her with a grin.
Just then, Eda walked in from the hallway. One glance at the classroom and her eyes landed squarely on Lillian. This girl… she didn’t even need to try; the moment she appeared, every gaze in the room gravitated toward her.
For the past two years, Eda had grown used to being the center of attention, to everyone’s adoration.
But the second Lillian walked back in, all of it shifted. Maybe in the past her disdain had stemmed from the fact that Lillian was her cousin; but now,
it was pure, unfiltered envy.

“We’re classmates; no need for formalities,” Eda said sweetly, though her words were sharp as glass. “After all, you were Riverdale High’s top student p>
Lillian caught the subtle barb instantly; but it only made her smile faintly, amused.
