Lillian tossed the phone back to Unno. “Get the helicopter ready. We leave in twenty minutes.” Without another word, she sprinted into her room to pack.
Twenty minutes later, they were in the air. When Unno noticed the little fox curled in her arms, his mouth twitched, but he didn’t dare ask.
Using the coordinates Foster had sent, Lillian pulled up the map on her laptop. It really was a tropical rainforest; the terrain was rugged and wild. No wonder finding someone there was nearly impossible.
The helicopter flew for almost six hours before reaching the crash site. It couldn’t land, so Lillian and Unno descended by rope ladder, their boots sinking into the soft ground below.
Once on solid ground, they hiked to the wreckage. The scene was chaos-debris scattered everywhere, blackened patches where flames had licked the earth. Lillian scanned the area, her sharp gaze taking in every detail. The place had already been searched; there was nothing here worth finding.
