In the master bedroom, a single lamp glowed faintly, casting soft light over a figure resting on the bed. The stillness was almost absolute.
Suddenly, the figure bolted upright, slipped out of bed, and peered out the window with a furrowed brow. In a rush, she threw on a black jacket and moved toward the door.
Just as she stepped into the hall, another door across from hers opened at the same time.
Sebastian emerged in loose black silk sleepwear, the fabric shimmering faintly in the low light. He looked as dark and commanding as the night itself, his features sharpened with a dangerous allure. His damp hair, still dripping from a recent shower, added a touch of lazy elegance to his usual wicked charm.
