The tone of her voice sent a chill through Karina, as though the air itself had turned cold.
After hanging up, Lillian’s gaze followed the leaves dancing in the wind outside. Her eyes narrowed slightly. So soon. I’m really going back to that place.

Henry clutched the stolen formula, eyes brimming with excitement.
“Has anyone from Skyreach Group discovered the breach?” he asked.
His subordinate bowed. “Not yet. This was taken directly by our inside contact and sent straight here p>
“Excellent!” Henry burst into laughter. “Very good. I’m pleased. Tell the lab to begin formulation immediately p>
The man bowed again and hurried out.
Henry leaned back, exhaling heavily. For months now, projects had been collapsing one after another, flaws multiplying, stocks plunging. He had felt suffocated under the weight of it all. But with this formula, Sinclair Pharmaceuticals could finally catch its breath.
The weekend arrived, and Eda’s birthday party was in full swing.
Lillian hadn’t wanted to go, but Natalie had practically dragged her along.
“Lillian, are you really going dressed like that?” Natalie asked skeptically from the passenger
seat.

Lillian wore a simple silver sweater, slim black pants, and ankle boots.
Natalic, on the other hand, had gone all out in a formal party dress, looking every bit the elegant young lady-except for the way she slouched in her seat, which spoiled the image.
Lillian gave
her a sidelong look and chuckled softly before leaning back to rest her eyes. A rare Sunday meant for relaxation, and she had to waste it on a birthday party-worse yet, one thrown by someone she could barely stand.
Half an hour later, their car pulled up in front of a grand villa.
They had barely stepped out when the roar of an engine cut through the air. A sleek sports car sped up and stopped directly in front of Lillian. The door swung open, revealing Daylen, sharp in a black suit, crisp white shirt, and black bow tie-like a prince stepping out of a comic book.
“Okay, Daylen is very handsome,” Natalie whispered with a dreamy grin. “Almost on par with Young Master Gong p>
Lillian rubbed her forehead, exasperated. Natalie’s life revolved around two passions: food and good-looking men. If there was a restaurant worth trying, she’d be there. If there was a handsome boy in sight, she’d be watching.
Daylen walked straight up to Lillian, smiling. “Looks like fate keeps throwing us together p>
Lillian smirked. “Well, if you call it fate, then Mr. Daylen must have a lot of soulmates p>
Daylen wasn’t offended by her teasing-he only laughed.
The group stepped into the villa.
Inside, the scene was dazzling. Normally mild-mannered classmates were transformed-boys in tailored suits, girls in elegant gowns. Beyond them, many guests from Solara’s business circles mingled in clusters, laughing and exchanging pleasantries.
