They giggled among themselves.
Adeline’s gaze was full of derision. Yet what unsettled her was that Lillian remained
unbothered, calmly eating from her plate, not giving them so much as a flicker of reaction. Adeline’s chest tightened with frustration. How dare this bitch stay so composed.

With the pests gone, Lillian and Natalie went right back to chatting and laughing, as though nothing had happened.

“We’re talking about which universities to apply to,” Natalie said.
