Sebastian sat behind his desk, his tall frame wrapped in a perfectly tailored suit. His chiseled features were calm and unreadable; his deep, penetrating gaze locked on the data glowing on his monitor while his long, slender fingers danced rapidly across the keyboard.
Suddenly, a sharp knock broke the silence.
“Come in,” he said, his voice low and cool.
The door opened, and Foster strode in briskly.
“Mr. Whitmore, Ms. Ariana is here to see you p>
Sebastian’s hands paused mid-typing. He looked up at Foster, his brows drawing together. His tone turned cold. “Did she say what for p>
“No, sir p>
“Let her in,” Sebastian said evenly, his attention already returning to his screen.
“Yes, sir p>
Moments after Foster stepped out, the door opened again. The sharp click of high heels echoed on the marble floor, and the air filled with an overpowering wave of perfume that made Sebastian’s brows crease in faint irritation.
“Sebastian,” Ariana said lightly, “you’re back in town. How come you didn’t stop by home first p>
Lifting his gaze, he saw two women stepping inside, both dressed in elegant dresses.
“I’ve been busy. I’ll come by when I have time,” he replied, his voice flat. “Ariana, what brings you here p>
Ariana tugged Triny toward the sitting area, a bright smile on her face. “We heard you were back, so Triny and I thought we’d come say hello. It’s been a while, after all p>
Sebastian’s brow arched slightly, though his voice remained as cool as ever. “You’ve said hello. Now, if you don’t mind, I have work to do and no time to entertain you p>
Ariana didn’t take offense; instead, she chuckled. “That’s fine. You do your work; we can wait. When you’re done, let’s have dinner together p>

Truthfully, she hadn’t planned to drop by today; it had been Triny’s idea. She hadn’t wanted to at first, but knowing how much Triny liked her cousin, she’d relented. Besides, she didn’t dislike the girl.
Triny, meanwhile, couldn’t tear her gaze from the man behind the desk. His sculpted, impossibly handsome face was focused in a serious, almost austere expression as his fingers flew over the keys.
It was her first time seeing him like this-so absorbed in work-and it only confirmed what she’d always believed: a man focused on his work was at his most attractive.
When Sebastian finally finished with his task, he looked up again. “Cousin, as you can see, I just got back and there’s a lot that needs my attention. I don’t have the time p>
Before Ariana could respond, Triny quickly spoke up, her voice soft and sweet. “Sebastian, if you’re busy, then we won’t disturb you. We can meet up another time when you’re free p>
Sebastian didn’t even bother to look up.
“Hey,” he said coldly, “don’t come to my office again. This is a workplace. And try not to bring people I don’t know; I don’t want to cause unnecessary misunderstandings p>
With that, he returned to his files. The little girl had come all the way to Kingston-he wanted to finish quickly so he could spend time with her.
Triny’s face drained of color. Her body trembled, humiliation searing through her.
Never in her life had she been spoken to that way-and by the man she loved, no less.
“Sebastian, how could you say that? Don’t you know that Triny-” Ariana’s expression darkened, her tone sharp.
But Triny quickly stopped her, eyes shimmering with unshed tears. Her voice trembled as she forced a shaky smile. “Don’t, Ariana. Please… don’t say anything. I’m sorry, Sebastian, for bothering you p>
And before anyone could stop her, she turned and ran out, tears spilling down her cheeks.
Ariana shot Sebastian a glare, then hurried after her.
Once the room was quiet again, a flicker of something cold and unreadable flashed through Sebastian’s dark eyes.
Meanwhile, at Skyreach Group, after her meeting with Morris, Lillian realized it was still early, so she decided to head straight to the company.
